Saundersfoot has some fantastic dog friendly cottages due to the village being very dog friendly. One of the best dog-friendly days out in Saundersfoot is soaking up the sights of the village itself. A run on Saundersfoot’s glorious golden sandy beach is perfect for both you and your pup. Explore the village on a dog walk with charming independent shops en route. On the far side of Coppet Hall are two further tunnels on a wide flat path taking you to Wiseman’s Bridge. It’s ideal for dog walks, pushchairs, wheelchairs, and kids’ scooters and the tunnels – one of which is long and quite dark – adds to the enjoyment! The tramway continues through the woods to Stepaside where the remains of the old ironworks can be explored.
Walking East along The Strand, Coppet Hall beach, a popular spot for windsurfing, is reached via a short tunnel – the remains of the old tram lines. At Coppet Hall Beach you’ll find Coast, a fine dining restaurant with unrivalled views, as well a coffee shop and watersports centre.
The Coast Path in the other direction takes you to Tenby. Although the distance isn’t great, there are a number of descents and climbs as the path drops down to some little coves like Waterwynch. The path meanders through the woods which are full of bluebells in the spring.
The Beach and Village
Saundersfoot’s main attraction is the large south-east facing, golden, sandy beach. The shallow water and nearby village facilities make the beach popular with families. The harbour offers the opportunity to take fishing and sightseeing trips along the Pembrokeshire coastline. There are plenty of pubs and cafés in the village and around the harbour with ample parking near the beach both on the harbour side and in the National Park car park behind the shops.
Local attractions include Folly Farm, Heatherton Adventure Park and Tenby Dinosaur Park.
Saundersfoot is renowned locally for a charitable New Year’s Day Swim sponsored by local businesses.
