Llansteffan is dominated by its stunning castle – it’s definitely worth the steep walk up the hill to enjoy a picnic with unenviable views along the coast.
The Castle Llansteffan Castle stands on a headland overlooking the beautiful beaches and coastline of Carmarthen Bay. The defences date back to an Iron Age fort which have been built upon by various groups over time. The current ruins offer a fantastic spot for picnics and games of hide-and-seek
Beaches The Green and Scott’s Bay are the two main beach areas at Llansteffan. The Green, with its expanse of clean hard sand is ideal for picnics and games and is close to toilets and the main car park. A walk around the headland leads to Scott’s Bay, a pretty cove with plenty of firm, clean sand. When the tide comes in Scott’s Bay is ideal for swimming and bathing.
In a quiet spot along a wall on the path leading to Scott’s Bay is St Anthony’s Well. The water was believed to have healing properties, including the power to cure love-sickness.
Amenities For a small village, Llansteffan punches above it’s weight with amenities with plenty of parking, a children’s play area, beach shop, ice creams, cream teas and fish and chips all yards from the beach, as well as 2 pubs, a pizza takeaway and village shop a few minute’s walk!
