Shops, Food and Exhibitions
Lampeter has a number of independent shops offering home furnishings, books, art and craft, music, clothing, and food and drink. There’s a busy farmer’s market, and great cafes serving freshly-made food. If you’re staying for a few days be sure to ask about Lampeter’s own shopping loyalty card!

The Lampeter Museum is located in the Town Library. It houses a small collection of items illustrating local history including the town’s original Royal Charter.

The Area
The Romans mined gold at Pumpsaint and the site is now managed by the National Trust as Dolaucothi Gold Mine. Guided tours of offer visitors a glimpse of the workings below ground. Remains of the Roman road can still be seen.

The Welsh Quilt Centre exhibits important quilt collections as well as related textiles and art.  It runs courses and has a gallery shop.

Deep in the countryside, about four miles away at Llwynygroes, between the Teifi and Aeron Valleys, you’ll find Jane Beck‘s emporium of Welsh blankets – vintage and new, produced at local woolen mills.

Nearby is the Denmark Farm Conservation Centre where you can join courses on country skills, crafts, food and art, as well as enjoying trails through wildlife rich meadows to lakes and copses.

There is some beautiful countryside scenery around the town and wonderful angling on the River Teifi.

Dylan Thomas had links with Lampeter and nearby Talsarn.  The Dylan Thomas Trail links Talsarn and Lampeter with other places in Ceredigion associated with the poet, such as Aberaeron and New Quay.

The Lampeter Food Festival is held annually in July on the university campus.

Throughout the year, you can also enjoy the Beer & Cider Festival; Dylan Thomas Creative Writing Summer School; Lampeter Agricultural show; Rhys Thomas James Eisteddfod; Lampeter Music Club classical concert series;  and the Christmas food and craft fair.
