About

Cwmtydu Beach is situated between Llangrannog and New Quay on the Ceredigion Coast Path, and there are stunning views from the footpath on both sides of the beach over the Cardigan Bay coastline. Seals and dolphins can be spotted, and in late summer, Atlantic Grey seal pups can sometimes be seen on the beach.

Once very popular with pirates and smugglers, the beach is mostly shingle with an area of sand exposed at low tides. The river Tydu often forms a deep pond at the top of the beach, a popular spot for children to play and paddle in summer. There is easy access for launching kayaks and direct access onto the Coast Path for walkers.

A restored lime kiln marks the back of the beach, and a short walk northwards takes you to the stunning small beach and the ancient settlement of Castell Bach.

Dogs are allowed on the Beach, but please be considerate to other beach users and remember you must always clean up after your dog.
