January is a fantastic time to visit West Wales, especially if you are looking for some peace and relaxation. The once-busy beaches during the summertime are now quiet and perfect to explore with your pup. Stepping outside you are hit with the refreshing breeze that gets you excited to explore. So let us take you through one of our favourite walks in Ceredigion during January.
One of our favourite walks in West Wales is by the coast on the Ceredigion Coastal Path from Penbryn to Llangrannog. It’s only two (quite hilly) miles each way but with the lure of the delights of the Caffi Patio at Llangrannog it is definitely worth the walk. January is a perfect time of the year for a walk in West Wales, it’s cold but the sun is still shining after a hard overnight frost. The perfect weather.
The National Trust car park is located just above Penbryn Beach, perfectly situated to walk up the track and over the headland, with stunning views south towards the beaches at Tresaith and Aberporth. The distinctive hill at Mwnt and even Cardigan Island are visible in the distance. Words can’t do justice to the scenery along this stretch of coast. To the north is the ‘secret beach’ as well as Llangrannog, with the rocky headland of Ynys Lochtyn beyond.
A wonderful walk: glorious views, the peace and solitude of the largely deserted coastal path, a good lunch and a sightings of Cardigan Bays resident Bottle-nosed dolphins. It is a walk everyone needs to do whilst visiting West Wales.
