Riitta Sinkkonen Davies is a textile artist based in Pembrokeshire and born in Finland, where she was first introduced to weaving by her grandmother. Her work is a unique reflection of her Finnish background and her love of the Pembrokeshire landscape.
Riitta’s work ranges from colourful floor rugs and table linens to framed pictures, wall hangings and scarves. These are all produced as one-off originals or small runs that are unique and unrepeatable due to the variability of the dying and spinning processes.
Riitta has several large looms in her workshop including a damask loom. There is always a variety of work in progress and a small gallery with finished work on display. Riita’s work may be purchased directly from the workshop or ordered by phone or email.
The workshop is open for visitors from April 1st to October 31st from Tuesday to Friday between 10 am and 5 pm. Visitors are welcome at other times by prior arrangement. It is always advisable to telephone beforehand to ensure Riitta is at home as she gives lectures and runs workshops in various locations around the country.
In addition to selling work from her own workshop, Riitta has exhibited in numerous national and international exhibitions. She has also been commissioned to produce work for many private clients, several national museums and the ordination of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
