The Rope and Anchor

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors. Please note that due to fairly steep stairs, The Rope and Anchor may not suit guests who are unsteady on their feet.

Introduction The Rope and Anchor Cottage is ideal for those who want a self-catering holiday, with sea views and the town centre only a 5 minute walk away. The cottage was built around 1840, but has been fully refurbished with a contemporary and comfortable feel in mind.

Pre-Arrival The nearest bus stop is 5 minutes walk from the cottage which is up a slight hill. Bus times can vary, for further details see the bus operator’s website.

Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking The key is located in a locked key code box within the porch of the cottage. The code to the locked box is changed regularly, so guests will be given the code just before their stay. The cottage is on the main road in Aberaeron and there is parking available on the road directly outside the house. There is always space for 2 cars. Entrance to Property There is 1 step up into the porch and 1 step up to the front door.

Halls, Stairs, Landings, Passageways The hall, stairs and landings are lit by 2 ceiling lights. The staircase to the first floor has 14 steps. Being the original Cottage staircase, it is quite steep and curves around to the left. The stairs are plain wood no carpet. There is a mains powered smoke alarm in the hallway. Please note: The stairs to the first floor are quite steep, with small treads on the turn, typical for this style of cottage. There is a handrail on both sides of the stairs, but they are still unsuitable for some. Please check the image of the stairs.

Sitting Room/Lounge The sitting room/lounge is situated on the ground floor with level entry from the hallway. The room has a mixture of seating with sofas and soft chairs together with a low coffee table. Furniture can be moved. There is a widescreen digital Smart television with remote control, and a DVD player. Lighting is natural daylight and by night, levels are controlled by a ceiling light and floor lamp. The flooring is wood plus a large rug.

Small Sitting Room/Sofa bed There is a small sitting room situated on the ground floor with level entry from hallway. The room has one small double sofa bed which easily pulls out. There is little room each side of the sofa bed.

Breakfast Room The breakfast room is situated on the ground floor with entry from both the hallway and the kitchen. There are 2 steps up to the breakfast room from the hallway. The dining table (moveable side to side) has legs on each corner. Chairs (all moveable) – 4 chairs with wooden seats, no arms. There are a further 2 folded chairs in the kitchen if required. There is a low cupboard with glasses. Flooring is Victorian quarry tiles. There is no high chair at present.
