Tanybryn (meaning ‘on the brow of the hill’) is a secret almost forgotten. Originally a Welsh farmhouse, it has been completely renovated to provide authentic accommodation retaining many original features, including the inglenook fireplace, bare timbers and stone walls. The nearest beach is only 14 miles away.
The cottage is set in 2 1/2 acres of wildflower meadow, garden and woodland, approximately 6 miles from Lampeter. The wildflowers in the meadow include orchids and yellow rattle, and the woodland in spring has a profusion of bluebells and herb Robert, with many others growing along the banks. This rich habitat provides a perfect environment for wildlife, including toads, frogs, foxes and bats, and for the birdwatcher, it is a haven with among others barn owls, tawny owls, woodpeckers, red kites, buzzards and nuthatches.
It is also an excellent location for star gazing as there is no light pollution. Close to the Cambrian Mountains Astro Trail, with Hostel Ty’n y Cornel, Llanddewi Brefi being the closest Dark Sky Discovery Site. The hillside location of Tanybryn means that it offers wonderful views. The aim at Tanybryn is to give you a stress-free break and space to unwind and relax in the Cambrian Mountains.
