Access statement for Southdown Shepherds Hut

Pre Arrival;
• Public Transport available within a mile's walk.
• No pick up available
• Mobile phone reception fairly good
• No provided Internet
• Grocery deliveries available ie Tesco etc.

Arrival and car parking
Access to the Hut is via Bowls Road and through double metal farmyard gates.
• The gates open inwards and are fitted with an up and over drop bar which does require some effort to lift and drop.
• Car parking is right next to the Hut. A couple of paces – through a wicket gate into the Shepherds Hut garden area. The parking surface is shingle. If Visitors prefer, their Vehicle can be parked on the house driveway in which case they will need to walk through the yard to access the Hut.
• There is a security light on a barn that detects movement at night. There is a handrail leading up the steps into the Hut itself.
• The Shepherds hut has its own outside light which has to be switched on manually.
• Chickens inc a Cockerel who does crow in the mornings, Ducks and friendly Geese roam freely. Poultry is locked away at night to help prevent the attn. of foxes. Poultry released around 8 am every morning, however, the Geese who also are locked away may sound alert if they hear a strange noise.

• No Tv.
• Charging point for phones on the socket in the kitchen area.
• Bed area can be single or pull out for double.
• Pull out table under the bed with two soft chairs.
• Bed at end of hut ie standard length and width for a double bed.
• Lights by the bed.
• Shelves above for storage etc.
• Hut is approx. 8 years old and ‘high-end spec’.
• Electric kettle, toaster, microwave and mini-fridge fitted. Cooking utensils provided along with dishcloths and tea towels.
• Wood burning stoves in the living area.
• Free wood nearby for own collection etc.
• Electric thermostatically controlled oil filled heater installed. Carbon monoxide and smoke detectors installed.
• Hot and cold running water.
• Electric shower fitted.
• Towel rail and portaloo within the shower area.
• Wash hand basin (cold water only) opposite shower cubicle.
• Mirror above the basin.
• Stable door opens inwards leading to fully fenced garden area.
• Full-width wind out sun canopy fitted to outside of Hut.

Reasonable sized fenced garden area with plants
• Field netting opposite Hut to Field where Livestock frequent.
• Wooden low fencing surrounds the garden.
• Part grass/concrete with table, chairs and bench.
• Birdfeeder, and outside composting loo enclosure.
• Overlooks a wooded area with a non-accessible stream.
• Goats frequent this area freely and are the opposite side of fence – no livestock can invade the garden area.
• The Hut is at the far end of the Farmyard.
• Owner on Site most days accessing nearby barns and tending livestock.
• Visitors welcome to ‘meet our animals’ at the Visitors own risk.
• We have our own Natural Spring where our few Ducks love to bathe – well worth a watch. The Spring is fenced. Visitors welcome to roam/watch etc
• Owners keen for Visitors to enjoy their stay and desire to make their stay very enjoyable and are open to suggestions to make that happen.

• We are keen recyclers and will provide help/give info on that process during your stay.
• There is lots to see and do locally and the Owners are very happy to provide any help that may be needed.
