Rebecca the Shepherd's Hut is situated on the banks of a mountain stream in the heart of the wild, unspoilt beauty of the Preseli Hills, with the Pembrokeshire coast just 10 miles away. With the simple luxury of eco-sustainability and no modcons, Rebecca offers a truly different, magical getaway in idyllic rural surroundings with a very light footprint.

Perfect for walkers, cyclists, dreamers, birdwatchers, artists, writers, those looking for a romantic break or a retreat or just yearning to get away from it all, the area and immediate surroundings allow for unusual tranquillity and connection with nature and the abundant wildlife here. There are foxes and badgers, otters in the stream, herons, red kites, buzzards, cuckoos, woodpeckers and many other birds.

The Preseli Hills, right on the doorstep, offer wonderful walking, exploring and mountain biking; the Pembrokeshire coast has many beaches and estuaries (kayaking, canoeing and swimming) and our unrivalled Coast Path is just 10 miles away.

Further afield, there are artists' studios to visit; good restaurants and cafes often serving local organic food; the attractions of St Davids Cathedral, the islands of Skomer, Skokholm and Caldey, the Irish Ferry from Fishguard to Rosslare and countless other activities too numerous to mention.

Rebecca offers cosy accommodation for up to two people in 1 double bed. Built on 100 year-old iron wheels and with 4 steps up to the front door, Rebecca is insulated with sheep’s wool. Lighting is from LED lights, rechargeable battery lanterns and safe candles. Playing cards and a selection of books and maps are provided. Eco paints are used throughout, bed linen is Fairtrade organic cotton and the duvet is organic merino wool.

Kitchen: fully equipped and self-contained, with a small dresser, 2 ring gas burner, locally handmade wood burning stove which can be used to heat pans/kettle and will also keep you toasty warm
An outdoor tap right by the Hut provides water from our own spring; we also provide bottled spring water for drinking for those who prefer it. There is a coolbox with ice packs from our freezer if required

Living space: includes under-bed storage, kitchen, two small tables, two fold-up chairs

Separate bathroom: there is a Treebog a few steps from the Hut - off the ground up 4 steps, this houses a compost-type toilet (clean, safe and hygienic) and a hand basin, a large enamel bowl, bucket and jug for "Japanese showers". Water in the Treebog is from a rainwater tank (for night-time toilet needs in the Shepherd's Hut there is a china goesunder).

This is simple accommodation with no mod cons – no hot running water, fridge or hot shower. Bathing can be done with water heated in the large kettle, or you might like to take a bath in the stream!

Rebecca stands on her own with a private slate patio area and outdoor fire pit overlooking a stream and mountains. There is parking for one car within easy reach of the Hut.
