Explore offers below and book your next holiday to West Wales.
Situated in the picturesque village of Drefach Felindre, Carmarthenshire, The Barn offers a tranquil getaway surrounded by trout streams and steeped in history.
Guests of all ages will find plenty to enjoy at The Barn. Start your adventure by meeting and photographing majestic birds such as hawks and buzzards, or try your hand at falconry by tracking a hawk. For those seeking more variety, enjoy flying drones, panning for gold, fishing for trout, embarking on treasure hunts, or practising your golf swing with provided clubs and balls.
Adding to its charm, the village was once the heart of the Welsh woollen industry. At the end of the drive, you’ll find the National Wool Museum, famously visited by King Charles. Adjacent to the museum, the local park features climbing frames, swings, and slides, making it a great spot for families.
For dining and amenities, the village pub/restaurant is just a 5-minute walk away, while a fish and chip shop, a local store, and a post office are also nearby.
The surrounding area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Walkers, cyclists, horse riders, fishermen, and birdwatchers will discover endless opportunities to explore and connect with nature. Canoeing is available at Llandysul and Cilgerran, while the nearby coastline boasts clean, sandy beaches with scenic cliff walks, cosy cafes, and friendly pubs.
For those craving further adventure, the Preseli Hills, Pembrokeshire National Park, and the wild, stargazing-friendly ‘Dark Sky’ Llanllwni Mountain are all within easy reach.

Outside
At the rear of The Barn, an orchard leads down to a stream. In the summer, youngsters have great fun paddling around and building dams. Early risers might see fox cubs playing in the grass, or pheasants on the lookout for breakfast. For a while, the fishpond was empty – an otter took the koi carp to feed her family and a heron visited regularly until seen off by one of our hawks. A raised patio overlooking the orchard catches the afternoon and evening sun. It’s a great place to enjoy a drink or barbecue as the day ends and the tawny owls and bats start the night shift. There is off road parking for 3 cars.
