Rooks Retreat is a contemporary family friendly home in Hodgeston, Pembrokeshire, 3 miles from the historic town of Pembroke and 7 miles from the popular holiday destination of Tenby. A narrow lane winds from Hodgeston to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Footpath, with its spectacular views of Freshwater East Bay, Caldey and Lundy Islands in the distance.

There are two beaches within 1 mile of the cottage: Freshwater East with its golden sand and superb walks, and Manorbier, a well known surfing mecca. There is also an outdoor pursuit centre at Freshwater for the more adventurous. Alternatively, you can catch the coastal cruiser bus to the idyllic Barafundle Bay or to the Bosherston Lily Ponds – a great place to fish.

The award winning theme parks of Oakwood, Folly Farm & Heatherton are all within a few miles and a visit to the Monastery on Caldey Island is a must. There are various places to eat within a short distance of Rooks Retreat, ranging from a traditional 13th Century pub at Jameston to a bistro at Lamphey and including Freshwater Inn within a 20-minute walk along a quiet country lane. Many welcome children and offer value for money meals and takeaways.

There is level access through the main front door to the ground floor
There is also direct access, through another door and over a small step, into the downstairs en-suite bedroom
There is also direct access to the garden, via the side gate, through a pair of double French doors in the lounge or via the back door
The ground floor is all on one level
From the hallway, there is direct level access to the lounge, dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom with large walk-in shower and downstairs double en-suite bedroom
All rooms have thermostatically controlled radiators
The oven is located in the kitchen base unit and the microwave is located on top of the kitchen base unit. There is a freestanding tall fridge freezer
All electrical sockets are at standard height and the TV, Freeview, DVD and video players all have remote controls
There is good natural and artificial light in all rooms including an automatic outside light
Access to the first floor, for the additional 2 bedrooms and games room, is via a wooden staircase with a quarter turn. The headroom, in the upstairs bedrooms, is slightly restricted due to the slope of the ceiling and there is a mixture of casement and Velux windows
All rooms have thermostatically controlled radiators
All bathrooms are ceramic tiled and although bath mats are provided care needs to be taken when the floor is wet. The ground floor en-suite bathroom has a freestanding bath with mixer tap/shower attachment and shower screen, toilet and hand basin. The separate ground floor bathroom has a tiled shower cubicle, toilet and hand basin, whilst the upstairs en-suite has a freestanding bath, hand basin and toilet
Smoking inside the property is not permitted – there are two battery operated smoke alarms, one in the kitchen and one in the lounge

Outside

There is a patio area with BBQ and a range of garden seating and a small slope leads to the lawned garden with table and chairs
The garden is enclosed by fencing however, young children will need supervision, when they play in the garden or the adjoining village green
There is a telephone line at the property, but this is only for the internet, however most mobile networks have good reception
