How to get here:

On receipt of deposit we issue comprehensive directions to Gwynfryn (by car) The nearest Airport is Cardiff (2.5 hours), 4 hour drive from Heathrow Airport Trains: We are equidistant from Aberystwyth and Carmarthen train stations (approx. 30 miles) Buses: For onward public transport from the train station please check out the traveline-cymru website for bus timetables. There is a bus stop just a 2 minute walk away from the cottage. Our local taxi company is TAR Cars Tel. 01545 560688 

Getting about: You will find a very comprehensive set of maps including AtoZ of Wales, OS Map and our own “Sat Nav Map” in the cottage for your use. We also provide various walking guides and map books for your convenience

Internet: We provide free firbre broadband, both WiFi and wired.

Arrival: Parking is in the car park 3 minutes’ walk away from the cottage. We provide one ticket for the car park for the duration of your stay. On arrival at Gwynfryn you can park on the wide footpath opposite the cottage to unload, then you can park your car in the car park. Should you be bringing more than one vehicle further tickets can be purchased from the machine in the car park at a reasonable cost. Parking is free Nov-Mar. Slate steps lead up to the front door (approx. 10)

Inside: The Cottage was built around 1880 and has not been designed with Wheelchair use in mind. 10 steps lead up to the front door. Inside there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor. One of these bedrooms is currently used for storage and is therefore not in use. A normal staircase (with handrail) leads up to a half landing. From here 2 steps lead off to the kitchen. There is a turn in the staircase and a further 4 steps (with handrail) lead to the first floor where you will find the third bedroom and the large lounge. There are stair gates available for both the bottom and top of the staircase. The Kitchen door closes off access from the kitchen onto the half-landing. A further staircase leads up to the en-suite loft bedroom. The staircase is of normal pitch but is narrower than normal. The first half of this staircase has walled sides, there is a turn with handrail thereafter. This bedroom is not suitable for unsupervised use of young children due to the design of the stairs. There is limited headroom at the sides of this room. There is 1 step up into both showers. The bath is a normal bath, we provide non-slip bath mat. Our TVs all have Remote Controls and Teletext and we will do our best to provide large print versions of Cottage information subject to advance notice. We welcome disabled guests to all of our accommodation. If you have any particular queries regarding accessibility then please do not hesitate to contact us for advice prior to booking. Outside: The back kitchen door leads out to the large rear garden. The terrace here is in full sunshine all day long from mid-morning onwards with stunning sea views. Directly outside the back door the concrete path leads between the ancient fruit trees to the first step onto the lower decked area. Here there is a clothes line and access to the small gazebo with sea view. A further 2 steps leads up to the large main terrace with views right across Cardigan Bay to Bardsey Island and Abersoch. This terrace is well furnished with table and chairs for 6 along with parasol, loungers and reclining chairs as well as the BBQ.

Eco credentials: • renovated using sustainable products eg lime, lime-wash, reclaimed wood etc • as much as possible is purchased locally including furnishings etc • eco switches on heating and hot water supplies • eco cleaning products used and provided such as Ecover washing up-liquid, Ecover toilet cleaner, recycled toilet papers etc • full recycling and composting facilities • all firewood is sourced from a sustainable source, either the waste material from a fencing company or from our own woodland management • We have an on-going tree-planting project at Dolphin Bay Cottages. To date just under 1,000 trees have been planted.
