Brynhyfryd Cottage is a cosy, traditional detached cottage peacefully situated near the historic village of Caio on the borders of Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. Set on the owners’ smallholding, this former farm-workers’ dwelling has been restored sympathetically, retaining features such as the original fireplace with bread oven.
Nearby Caio Forest with its miles of forestry tracks is wonderful for walkers, cyclists and horse riders alike. Horse riding and fishing are both available locally. The Brunant Arms offers a wonderful Sunday carvery lunch as well as being open on selected days throughout the week is a short stroll from the cottage. The Dolaucothi Gold Mines, which date back to Roman times, are within walking distance.
Brynhyfryd Cottage is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all. Its central location in West Wales affords access to spectacular walking country in the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Cambrian Mountains and the Ceredigion Heritage Coast of Cardigan Bay.
The Dolaucothi Arms in nearby Pumsaint is approximately one mile from the cottage and was awarded the Best Country Pub of 2019 by Countryfile Magazine, as well as being included in CAMRA’s excellent Good Beer Guide for 2021. As well as a pub, there is also a spacious restaurant serving both traditional home-cooked food as well as a Mediterranean menu (recommended By several previous guests).
