Barn Cottage near Boncath in Pembrokeshire is a detached stone cottage, part of 200 year old Cwm Meigan, a former farm. Cwm Meigan is now 2 stone cottages, set either side of a quiet bridle path in an idyllically peaceful location. Barn Cottage is surrounded by fields and trees abundant with wildlife, particularly birds such as kites, buzzards and woodpeckers.

Located between the villages of Llanfair-nant-Gwyn and Blaenffos, the cottage is ideally situated to explore the Preseli Hills and offers walks from the door along the historic footpath connecting these two villages. The local village shop is 2 miles away and there are supermarkets in Cardigan (Tesco will deliver direct). The owners live in the cottage opposite and are happy to offer local advice if needed.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal path is within easy reach from Newport to Poppit sands, and there are other attractive beaches such as Mwnt and Ceibwr Bay. Other local attractions include the Wildlife Centre near Cilgerran, riding stables and the beautiful river and falls at Cenarth where fishing is also available. The famous National Botanic Gardens, Aberglasney and Old Cilgwyn Gardens are also a reasonable drive away.

Totally enclosed and dog-proof garden, reached by steps outside the back door and with gently sloping lawn and flowerbeds. Patio area with a barbecue and table with benches to seat 6, plus 4 extra all-weather chairs. Large parking space for 1 car in front of the cottage.

Barn Cottage is part of Cwm Meigan, two detached cottages set either side of a quiet bridle path some 700 yards (640 metres) off the Boncath – Eglwyswrw road.
The bridle path is tarmacked as far as Barn Cottage.
Public transport is regrettably almost non – existent, but there is a local taxi firm about three miles away if needed.
Mobile phone reception is quite good, (Orange reception is the best at the cottage itself)

Arrival and car parking

In the front of the cottage there is ample parking space right outside with an external light above the front door, a good turning area and the ability to load and unload the car directly into the house.

Inside

The double bedroom on the ground floor has a double bed, inbuilt wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables, a clock and a small radio.
The upstairs bedroom has twin single beds, with a small wardrobe and chest of drawers.
The bathroom next door to it comprises a bath with shower above it (not separate) and wash hand basin, with the toilet and a further hand basin opposite the bathroom.
Although downstairs is accessible for the disabled (i.e. wheelchair), we apologise that the accommodation is not suitable for the disabled due to the washing and toilet facilities being upstairs.
There is a fully functioning fire alarm.

Outside

The garden of Barn Cottage is totally enclosed and is dog proof, unless the dog is able to scale fences. In all the time the property has been rented out no dogs have escaped.
The garden is reached by steps outside the back door and has a gently sloping lawn, flowerbeds with roses, shrubs, bulbs, annuals and perennials
There is a washing line and bird feeders which can be filled either by the occupants or by arrangement with the owners if you want to spend time watching the many birds that visit.
There is an abundance of wildlife, particularly birds, with kites, buzzards, owls and the odd heron, raven and peregrine falcon, besides a multitude of blue tits, great tits, chaffinches, greenfinches, robins, blackbirds, thrushes and both greater and lesser spotted woodpeckers to mention just a few.
Since the owners live in the opposite cottage, any problems are dealt with on the spot. We are there to help with anything if needed.
