Llaingyfre, Pencader, Carmarthenshire
Old Dairy Cottage, near Skanda Vale in beautiful Carmarthenshire, is a detached conversion of an old milking parlour on the farmyard of the owners’ 23 acre smallholding. Guests are free to explore the hedged fields and woodland of the smallholding (which the owners do not farm themselves). At 750ft above sea level it commands expansive views to the north, over rolling countryside stretching to the Cambrian Mountains and Pumlumon over 40 miles away.
Over 60 different species of birds may be seen including buzzards and red kites and unusually Laburnum grows wild in the hedgerows, providing a riot of golden blossom in late May and early June.
The cottage is located in the “The Garden of Wales”, conveniently mid way between Carmarthen Bay with its expansive beaches to the south and Cardigan Bay with its secluded coves and rugged cliffs on the North Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion coast. Llansteffan is 20 miles, New Quay 22 miles and Poppit Sands 26 miles. Old Dairy Cottage is within 5 miles of the northern corner of Brechfa Forest and Llanllwni Mountain (open access and Common land) both of which provide excellent walking.
Carmarthen, the oldest town in Wales, and said to be the birthplace of King Arthur’s legendary wizard Merlin (and a useful shopping centre) is just 10 miles away.
Old Dairy Cottage is double glazed throughout and having full oil fired central heating it is ideal for out of season holidays.
Old Dairy Cottage sleeps 5 in 2 bedrooms. The ground floor bedroom has a double bed (fitted with electric blanket) and an en suite shower room and toilet. Upstairs is a galleried bedroom with three single beds. The family bathroom is on the ground floor.
On the ground floor, the comfortable living/dining room has a three seater settee and a two seater settee, TV with Freeview and DVD and an extendable dining table and five folding chairs. There are French doors to the cottage’s own enclosed garden.
The well-equipped kitchen has an electric cooker, fridge, toaster and microwave. There is shared use (with the guests of our other cottage) of a washing machine and tumble dryer, 25 yards from Old Dairy Cottage.
