Gardener’s Cottage is a romantic cottage for 2 in Cardigan Castle, in exclusive luxury self-catering in a dramatic setting within a unique place in Welsh culture. This stylish property has beautiful furnishings, a cosy wood burner for winter days, and a roll-top bath to soak in.

Immerse yourself in 900 years of history with a stay in this castle, lovingly restored, to enchant those looking for a unique getaway. Cardigan Castle is believed to be the first stone castle ever built by a Welshman. To celebrate its completion in 1176, Lord Rhys ap Gruffydd hosted a gathering of bards, musicians, and performers: the first Eisteddfod and the start of the Welsh tradition of cultural festivals that continues today.
All guests are invited to explore the Castle grounds, sit in the Eisteddfod chair and enjoy complimentary access to events held at the Castle during their stay. Open between 10 am and 4 pm to visitors, the Castle grounds are for the exclusive enjoyment of guests in the cottages and B&B accommodation outside those hours, except when evening events are held.
As well as ‘1176’, the Castle restaurant, Cardigan historic market town has a range of interesting independent speciality and antique shops, galleries and eateries to explore, such as riverside Pizzatipi, or The Copper Pot restaurant and takeaway, supermarkets, and Theatr Mwldan with its theatre and cinema. There is plenty to explore along unspoilt Cardigan Bay, whether it is beautiful beaches, ancient castles, or the Ceredigion Coast Path.
Accommodation
Sleeps 2 plus cot in 1 bedroom with a king-size bed. ‘Topsy turvy’ cottage with the bedroom on the ground floor and living rooms upstairs to make the most of the views of the Castle grounds.

Outside
Private courtyard garden shared with the East Wing. Gated access to cottage entrance and courtyard, not open to day visitors. Private utility outbuilding and lockable storage shed (bikes, surfboards, etc), both by front door. Guests are free to wander the gardens and grounds of the Castle. Parking for 1 car in private car park within Castle grounds.
