The Cottage at Dolau Afon is set amidst 3 acres of delightful surroundings, including a 1-acre enclosed garden, by the river all set in the stunning Ystwyth valley, surrounded by forest and hills, between the Cambrian Mountains and the sea. Situated in a perfect location for walkers and their dogs, cyclists and couples who just want to get away from it all for a relaxing break.

The cottage is located within a designated ‘Dark Sky’ area and an area of ‘Astounding Natural Beauty’ is just a few yards from a SSSI on the River Ystwyth. There are regular sightings of wildlife, including Red kites, herons and kingfishers. The Cottage at Dolau Afon is a 20-minute drive from the wonderful seaside town of Aberystwyth, where you can explore the lovely independent shops, cafés and pubs. Take a stroll along the promenade or enjoy a walk on the charming beach.

For those who may come by train opting to leave the car at home, the cottage is on the bus route for the T21 to Aberystwyth. The Cottage is an ideal base to explore the fantastic area and visit the nearby Hafod Estate, the Rheidol Valley, Devils Bridge, Elan Valley and its lakes, Strata Florida Abbey and The Cambrian Mountains. The Cambrian Mountains Astro Trail is nearby with Coed Y Bont, Pontrhydfendigaid the nearest Dark Sky Discovery Site.

ACCOMMODATION

The Cottage sleeps 2 adults in a double bed on a mezzanine floor accessed by a space-saver staircase.

UPSTAIRS
Mezzanine bedroom: double bed, bedside tables and drawers – please note, there is restricted headroom 6-foot max.

DOWNSTAIRS
Sitting room: sofa, armchair, Sky TV, log burner and oak floor with rugs
Dining area: table seating 4
Kitchen: halogen hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, Tassimo coffee maker and selection of coffee, washing machine is available

OUTSIDE

Via a gate in the far corner of the field behind The Cottage, a path leads directly to the riverbank where you have fishing rights through Llanilar Angling Club to fish 15 miles of river right down to the sea for those who enjoy the tranquillity of a river and wish to fish. A complimentary club licence is available to guests on request (a small refundable deposit of £20 is required). You will also need your National Rod Licence.

There is a riverside secure garden, of approximately 1 acre across the road for you to enjoy, with outside dining area and garden furniture. A fire pit and a BBQ is also offered. Fenced garden, which is also suitable for pets to exercise. There is one parking space for your car in the car park, secure lock up for cycles, and parking for motorcycles.
