The Granary, Garregllwyd, Eglwyswrw, Pembrokeshire
Beautiful 18th century cart house in Eglwyswrw. Eco friendly, restored to conservation standards. Peaceful setting on former farm. 3 acres to enjoy and walks from the door. (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom)
Cartws Bach is a beautifully converted 18th-century cart house in a quiet countryside setting near the north Pembrokeshire village of Eglwyswrw. Full of character with exposed original beams and sloping ceilings, this pretty cottage is delightfully welcoming.
Carbon neutral with eco electricity, Cartws Bach has been sympathetically restored to conservation standards and has a simple yet elegant feel. Hemp, lime and clay paint give the walls an organic character, wooden and slate floors plus exposed beams add to the atmosphere.
The cottage is south facing and looks out into its own little garden. It is attached to a granary barn and cottage forming one side of the courtyard at the old farm of Bwlch Garregllwyd. It is very peaceful with a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere.
Conveniently situated near the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and Cardigan Bay, the main bus route is only 2 minutes’ walk, the coastal towns of Cardigan and Newport are only 7 minutes’ drive; with Poppit Sands and Newport Beach just 10 mins away.
Cartws Bach sleeps 3 in 2 bedroom areas: 1 double and 2 single beds with comfortable organic mattresses.
UPSTAIRS
Bedroom area: wooden painted stairs lead up to one room - cleverly divided by rustic wood-panelling to give two distinct sleeping areas with their own character. The double bed is in a cosy curtained nook within a dark-wooded area and the 2 single beds are in a cheerfully painted cabin room, with stable door leading to the outdoor barn steps. The roof space is open between sleeping areas.
Bathroom: good shower within 3/4 sized bath, wash basin and toilet. Mosaic tiling. The water is solar or wood-burner heated with eco-electric backup.
DOWNSTAIRS
Open plan room looking out through the distinctive archway into the garden giving a lovely open feel to the room. It includes…
Living area: two 2-seater sofas and a woodburner, TV/DVD player with a selection of DVDs (TV is just for watching DVDs, no satellite/aerial), games and a great selection of books and local guides.
Kitchen/dining area: fully equipped with Belfast sink and slate worktops, a dishwasher, washing machine and fridge. Use of a freezer available if required. Dining table with 4 chairs.
The property is set in an old farm courtyard with 3 acres of lawns, vegetable gardens, woods, flower meadow and pond behind the barn. Badminton set on the lawn. Our grassy track leads down to a green lane (ancient bridleway) which in turn will lead you to many footpaths and tracks to explore. Off road parking for one car. The owner politely requests no music or radio outside the cottage as the noise travels to neighbouring properties and all quiet after 9 pm in all outdoor areas. The garden is not dog-secure and dogs must be kept under control at all times. Thank you
