Caban Teifi

Pre-arrival

• Caban Teifi has good phone and 4G reception
• There is also free Wifi within the cabin
• We are situated on the edge of the hamlet of Trebedw which adjoins the village of Henllan.
• The village has a small bistro at the Celteg Winery (worth a visit to sample the fruit wines they produce there) and is also home to Bedwen Plants. Also of note is the Teifi Valley Railway Station and the gallery of local artist Diane Mathias. The village also has a Post Office
• The nearest pub is 1.5 miles up the road in the village of Penrhiwllan and is dog friendly. Opposite the pub is our nearest shop (well stocked with groceries, basic toiletries, newspapers etc.)
• Larger food shops (Co-op, Premier and CK’s), health food shops, pharmacies, independent boutique shops and an array of eateries (including café’s, pubs and takeaways) can be found in Newcastle Emlyn, 4 miles away
• The nearest petrol stations are at Pentrecagal (on the way to Newcastle Emlyn), Saron (on the way to Carmarthen) and Llandysul
• Regrettably, Caban Teifi is not suitable for guests with children (even babes in arms) or those whose mobility is limited

Arrival and car parking

• Public transport
• The nearest train stations are in Carmarthen and Aberystwyth
• The 460 bus runs from Carmarthen (bus and train stations) to Cardigan and stops in Henllan.
• The T5 bus from Aberystwyth will take you to Cardigan where you can catch the 460 bus to Henllan
 • Also of note is the Bwcabus bookable bus service, details of which can be found on their website. Taxis
• The nearest towns to the cabin are Llandysul and Newcastle Emlyn, both of which have taxi companies. Arriving by car There is ample parking and turning space for guests but please note the following points if you plan to travel by car
• The cabin shares the access drive/track with the owner’s house. It is single track but opens out at the end
• Visibility is slightly obscured when turning into the drive from either direction so care must be taken
• The house name is on the metal gate at the end of the drive but this is not overly obvious when approaching from Henllan direction
• Although the postal address for the cabin is Henllan, the cabin is actually situated in the adjoining hamlet of Trebedw
• Unless the house name (Pencnwc) is specified then some SATNAVS will take drivers to a row of cottages in Trebedw
• We are more than happy for guests to telephone us for directions should they have trouble finding us

Inside

• The cabin measures approximately 6m long by 3m wide and 2.6m tall. It is designed to make excellent use of the space but it should be noted that the spare floor space is limited. As such we do not feel that it is suitable for more than one dog or for children of any age
• The living space is all on one level with a built-in, full-sized double bed (access from one side only), small sofa, Smart TV (limited channels and remote control) and kitchenette.
• The kitchenette comprises of a full-sized under-counter fridge (no ice box), a two-ring ceramic hob, a microwave (slightly above eye level), a sink with hot and cold running water, a cordless kettle and a toaster. All utensils, cutlery, crockery and cookware are provided.
• We also leave a small welcome tray of scones, jam and butter. Teas, coffee grounds, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, pepper and veg oil are also in the cabin as are small bottles of whole and oat milk (enough for a few cuppas).
• We welcome information on dietary requirements or preferences
• There is a small built in wardrobe and ample space under the bed to stow bags and cases
• The cabin has laminate flooring with electric heating underneath it in the living area
• From the living area there is a small door leading to a small ensuite where there is a shower, small sink and a proper flushing toilet. There are no grab rails

Outside

• The cabin, it’s parking area and it’s garden are all gravelled. It is approximately 10m from the car park area to the door of the cabin. There are two steps up to the cabin and five steps down into the garden. There are no hand rails
• The garden area has a table, chairs, fire pit and BBQ. It is only fenced on two sides
• Guest are very welcome to explore the small holding and have two paddocks for their sole use. One is steep and has been newly planted with small trees, it has a pretty stream at the bottom (paths are uneven, care must be taken) which is a good spot for picnics and wildlife watching. Guests must not attempt to access the water. The other paddock is flatter and mainly laid to grass. It is a great place to lay out in the sun, watch the birdlife and/or let the dog off the lead. None of the boundaries are secure
• Guests are reminded that this is a rural setting with livestock in the near vicinity and as such dogs must be kept under strict control at all times
• The cabin has a small porch where there is a coat stand and a wooden box suitable for walking boots. It has an outside light but all other outside lighting is via solar lights (large light in the car park, small lights down the sides of the cabin, down the garden steps and fairy lights around the garden area). A wind-up lantern style torch is provided for guests use
• All bins are located down the far side of the cabin.
