“The cottage is located on a farm in the countryside, very close to nature. The location is perfect for exploring Cardiganshire and Pembrokeshire.
It was a very relaxing and peaceful break and hope to be there again soon.”

“Brilliant stay in Buttercup Cottage. The cottage was very spacious, clean and tidy and had all the amenities neede for a comfortable holiday. Nice big kitchen where meals could be prepared and eaten with the whole group, lovely cosy lounge and three good sized bedrooms. The lawned, secure garden is huge, the dog really loved running around it. Weather wasn't too good but it would be nice to return in the summer to fully appreciate sitting out, dining and having a glass of wine in the peaceful garden.

The farm is well situated to explore the surrounding areas of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire and although it feels remote it's only about a mile from Cardigan's many shops, pubs and restaurants.

Many thanks for a great stay.”

“My first visit to Owl Farm, on recommendation from my friend who has stayed here before. Loved it – everything we needed in the cottage, dog friendly and private well fenced garden. Ideal base for exploring Cardigan and further afield – managed to visit a beach a day, but many more to choose from and visit, so hopefully do that on a return visit! Thank you very much for a lovely venue for our holiday.”

Sarah, Kathryn (who has visited before with her husband and dogs), Lucy and Maisie - Sep 2020

“Lovely cottage in a great location. Hayley and Ian were very welcoming. The eggs and cake both went down well (thank you). There was everything we needed provided, including kitchen scales, which is a first for me.
The garden is a good size and very safe for dogs. Although Cardigan is only a short car journey away, the surroundings at Owl Farm are very peaceful.
Had a really enjoyable few days and we will be returning.”

“We had a lovely time at Owl Farm, meeting all the animals, especially Boris and Splodgy, and walking around the farm. It was also fun to explore the local area of Ceredigion as our family is partly Welsh! We had great fun playing card games and the eggs were tasty. We had a great time and our dog was exhausted at the end of the day. Thank you”

“Just back from a week at Buttercup Cottage. We had a rainy week but still managed to have a great time. The cottage was lovely to come back to at the end of the day and was very clean and well equipped with everything you’d need. We had a tour of the farm to meet all the animals which was a highlight for us - especially meeting the friendly goats and Boris the pig! Ian and Hayley couldn’t have been more helpful. The location itself is great, really close to Cardigan (recommend Pizza Tipi) and Poppit Sands was our favourite beach. Very dog friendly area, our dog had the best time!”

“It was great to be back and see all the work Hayley and Ian have done in the past three years and to hear all the plans for the future. The wetlands and games rooms will be another great addition and we look forward to seeing these the next time we visit along with all the other new animals which I am sure will be added to the flock! The cottage was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much.”

Duncan, Tessa, Aston & Anna - Jul 2020

“Our first UK holiday in over 20 years and I don’t think I’ll venture abroad again. Wales has absolutely stunned me how beautiful it is. The beaches are fantastic. Buttercup Cottage is just far enough out to be able to reach various places easily. New Quay was our favourite beach. The dogs have loved it here. Managed to spot seals at the farm which was great. Shame there wasn’t more open so we tended to eat in. Fab week – could have stayed longer to explore more. Already booked for next year and can’t wait. PS we love Boris and the goats, horses and alpaca!”

“We have had a lovely stay. Warm and cosy cottage with everything that we could have needed. Our two boys (6 and 2) have loved it. William (6) especially loved his cosy bed and Boris the pig! (we think that Boris enjoyed a nice scratch on his back by William too. William was really excited to see a heron and an owl by the brook along the driveway. Max (2) very much enjoyed splashing in the muddy puddles! Chester (the dog) has enjoyed sniffing all of the new smells. A lovely stay and we would highly recommend. Thank you for the tea and cake! Amanda, Estella & Gabby Teddy & Bolt Whippy. June 2019

“Owl Farm is located in a wonderful spot, well nestled in the countryside, and yet a short drive to local amenities and the stunning coast. We stayed in Buttercup - a traditional farm cottage surrounded by ancient trees offering dappled shade to the ample yet secure garden and providing homes to numerous bird species including woodpeckers, and squirrels who visit daily. Rooms were well appointed with a spacious farmhouse kitchen and an attractive modern bathroom. I wasn't expecting the amazing tour of the 48 acre farm by Ian and Hayley. Meeting the rare sheep and alpacas and walking the goats down from the paddock by lead are definite highlights and the couple were keen to share their enthusiasm and love of the good life.”

“We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. Ian & Hayley made the garden fence secure as we had small Yorkshire Terriers that could escape, so made us feel happy and secure that the dogs could not get out. Although he weather was not brilliant, it didn’t dampen our stay. Truly grateful to Hayley taking time out of her schedule to show us all the animals on the farm ad tell us all about them and their stories. We all had an enjoyable stay and loved Buttercup Cottage. Definitely recommending to our friends and we will be back again.”

We all loved looking around the farm and meeting the animals was definitely a highlight. Thank you so much Hayley for taking time out to spend a long time explaining about your way of life and informing us about the animals. We have loved our time here. The farm is perfectly placed to explore such a beautiful part of the world. We went to Poppit, Aberporth and Tresaith beaches, all of which were stunning. The Cilgerran wildlife park was beautiful and the dolphin spotting boat trip from New Quay was brilliant. Thank you, Ian and Hayley, for a wonderful time at Owl Farm, we think you are building something very special here.”

Plenty of room in the garden for our 2 dogs to play and to watch all the birds on the feeders (including the local woodpecker!) The location of the farm is ideal as it is close to many lovely beaches and amenities. Ian and Hayley were great hosts showing our granddaughter the farm animals even though they are busy running the farm. We would definitely return here for another holiday. Now bye Owl Farm and Buttercup Cottage, Ian, Hayley and the animals.”

Enjoyed the local beaches and had some great days out, but it was also nice to come back to a lovely private garden, BBQ and games with the kids. Saw woodpeckers and bats which we don’t see very often. Weather actually cooler than home (thank goodness). Very relaxing. Thank you Ian.”

“Stayed in Buttercup Cottage on Owl farm for one week. What a magnificent place, the setting is great for a relaxing holiday, very peaceful and yet only a mile or so from the town. The owners claim that it is "Dog friendly" is spot on, they have gone to great lengths to ensure that the cottages have gardens that are fenced in, you also have several acres to walk dogs round.

The cottage itself is very clean and very well equipped, with everything you need, and a comprehensive folder with all relevant local information. Would I recommend it to others, you bet I would, I have already got another stay booked for later this year.

Thank you Hayley and Ian for a wonderful stay!”

“This is our second stay at Owl Farm – this time in Buttercup Cottage which is in a lovely position with a secure garden for our two dogs. We’ve enjoyed watching all the different visiting birds and feeding them despite the efforts of the three resident squirrels who raitd the feeders and knock them over. Its also been interesting to see all the new animals who have arrived since our last visit and to watch the hay-making. Owl Farm is a superb location for a family holiday with lots to see and pretty walks. We’re sure to be back at some stage.”

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Buttercup Cottage. Ian and Hayley are friendly and welcoming. There was barra brith cake and Welsh tea bags waiting for us on arrival.

Ian and Hayley have a selection of rare breeds on their farm which would be particularly interesting for adults and children who have not encountered this environment.

The cottage was near to Cardigan Market town and attractions. Poppit Sands is absolutely excellent for families and dogs. There is a lovely coastal walk near to Cardigan with stunning views of the cliffs where you can watch birds and seals. The area is completely fenced off and safe.

There have been a number of improvements and changes with lots of new arrivals on the farm. I’ve even seen woodpeckers in the garden on a daily basis, I’ve never seen them before. The dogs have had the best holiday. Poppit Sands is their favourite. The local market in St Dogmaels is worth a visit on Tuesday morning. Thank you Hayley and Ian for making our stay so enjoyable. I’m sure we will be back”

“Really liked arriving to tea, milk, cake and butter – small gesture but immediately made us feel welcome. Also great to see toilet roll, dishwasher tablets etc. and good range of kitchen kit for cooking at home. Working wifi, games selection, walking maps, tour of animal yard, bird feeders in garden attracting lots of wildlife. Best kitted out we’ve visited. Thank you!”

“We are in love! From the minute we walked in we felt right at home, even our very anxious Dooley dog was happy by the morning. Thank you for the Bara Brith cake (our new favourite) & tea etc. much appreciated refreshment before going to stock up on supplies at the supermarket. Lovely walking around the farm fields even though so wet! We were very fortunate after the longest wettest winter to have pretty decent weather however. Poppit Sands beach is amazing. Dolphin spotting boat trip at New Quay highly recommend – even Dooley could go! We saw seals, porpoise and lots of birds. If you walk out of Owl Farm drive and turn left up the road about 2-300 meters on the left is a footpath which has lovely waterfalls & paths. Kids very much enjoyed this find. We are planning to book in the next few weeks to come back in the summer of 2019, one week was not long enough! Have also recommended to friends who are keen to come. Ian & Hayley thank you. You are living my dream & I’m sure this will be a regular destination for us for years to come.”

“A lovely short break. Cottage was lovely and great for the dog too (a nice secure garden). Lovely and peaceful here. Took the dog for a lovely walk at Poppit Sands. Would be more than happy to stay here again. Thank you very much.”

Feedback - Feb 2018

“We’ve had a very enjoyable week here staying in Buttercup Cottage. It is our first time visiting Wales and managed to explore plenty! We’ve visited Gigrin Garm and watched the Red Kites feed – very enjoyable! Also been to plenty of the beaches – all were amazing in their own way! Poppit Sands was the perfect local beach for the dogs to enjoy a good stretch on. But our favourite had to be Llangranog Beach with the steep steps leading to a lovely little private cove when the tide was in. The café selling homemade ice-cream and milkshakes was a massive hit! Away from the beaches we explored the Preseli Hills and reached the Foel Cwmcerwyn in the snow! We also visited and enjoyed a 7 mile walk around the Llys-y- Fran Reservoir and country park. Overall we’ve had a lovely week here and hope to be back in the future. We wish you all the best for the future!”

Luke, Alicia, Bramble, Eddie and Aspen from Nottingham. November 2017

“Fab little cottage, perfect for the dogs. Lovely farm in which there was plenty of small walks we were able to take the dogs on before setting off for the day. Owners were really friendly and welcoming. Great location, close to some beautiful beaches as well as a few points of interest. Definitely recommend!”

“We have enjoyed our stay at Buttercup Cottage so much, we have already booked to come back next year. The location is perfect for exploring the local area. We have been up as far as Aberystwyth and Devils Bridge and south as far as Newport, with many locations in between. The beaches were brilliant, especially Poppit Sands which was a favourite with the dogs. The information provided in the cottage was invaluable, we used it daily. The Ferry Innis an excellent recommendation and well worth a visit. The food and the location are well worth it. The farm is the perfect place for relaxing weeks with surprise around many corners, especially with all the animals. Thank you Ian and Hayley for making our stay so special that we can’t wait to come back next year. Best wishes,”

“Lovely stay, enjoyed it much. Some of the best beaches in the world – Our favourite was the dog-friendly beach to the right of White Sands in St Davids – bit of a climb down some rocks but definitely worth it – practically had it all to ourselves. Lovely walks along the coastline. Thanks very much”

Bev, Jacob, Lucan and Remy, July 2017

“Ian & Hayley Thank you for a lovely stay in Buttercup Cottage this week. We had a fabulous stay on your farm and hope to return some day if you will have ‘the Terriers & Schnauzer’ back. Thanks again”

Nicola and Helen with Tammy, Kate and Maisy, July 2017

“We have enjoyed our stay at Buttercup Cottage and cannot wait to come back next year (twice!) The weather has been great, beach every day. Poppit Sands (our favourite!) and the dogs (Molly & Elsie) loved it and really enjoyed the ‘dog ice-cream’ from the café. Thank you! Ian & Hayley for the tea and bara brith, very nice! Our week has been relaxing and very comfortable, the wildlife, animals and views are lovely, you have a beautiful place!!”

Graham, Tracey, Chelsea, Molly and Elsie, July 2017

“Back again just for the wonderful stay at Buttercup. Weather from Tuesday very wet and windy. It must be the air but sleep – it’s the only place I can really sleep well. Time goes very quick every time. We see more improvements every time and seeing the wild life – woodpeckers, squirrels, blue tits at the feeders. Going back fully charged and relaxed until we hit Old Stratford, the borders of Milton Keynes of Rat Race and people that don’t say hello good morning – hay ho – good job there are resorts like this.”

Gary & Julie, June 2017

“This is the second time we have stayed here - we booked well in advance to make sure we didn't miss out. Lovely surroundings, peaceful and quite, clean and tidy and very scenic - despite not having brilliant weather, it was still a lovely place to have a break. Even though on a holiday, it had a lovely homely feel to it. There is plenty to see, lots of different places you can go - if you are really interested in wild life, there is lots to see both at the cottage and it's surroundings area.

We would certainly recommend - and have done already. We will definitely be looking to book up again in the future.”

Feedback - Jun 2017

“We loved buttercup cottage!! Beautiful both inside and out, breathtaking views with plenty of shops nearby and very close to coastal paths. We will definitely be booking again, Ian and hayley were the perfect hosts. We look forward to going back!!”

“We have loved our stay at Buttercup Cottage!! The weather has been very much in our favour – boiling hot, only one day of rain. The cottage is very well presented, had everything you could possibly need – plus a few extras – some lovely cake, teabags and butter waiting for us on arrival, yum yum. We’ve just had the best time exploring – Cardigan town is lovely – from there we walked to Poppit Sands (about an hours walk). Stunning beach, breath taking views, plenty of places to eat and drink. We also visited the farm where you can also spot seals bobbing about in the sea. All in all, it’s been pretty amazeballs!! Long walks, sitting in the garden, making daisy chains, listening to the birds chorus, we’ve loved every second. Thank you Ian and Haley.”

Phil & Kath. June 2017

“Thank you for a lovely week in your cottage. Think you’ve done very well in just a year and we wish you well in your venture – hope you fulfil all you are setting out to do. We hope to come back again sometime to see how things have progressed. The dogs liked the big garden and all the walks around about. Thanks again.”

“Blessed with lovely weather. Whole area beautiful. Enjoyed wonderful coastal walk from Penrallt Garden Centre down to Ceiwbr Bay along coastal path heading towards Newport. Also had a great day at Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve and Wildlife Centre just outside Cardigan. Can highly recommend Blas at Fronlas at Newport to eat, food homemade, freshly prepared and excellent. Also had a very nice meal at the Pavilion Café at Pernallt Garden Centre. Ian and Hayley very nice people, cottage cosy & warm. Everything we needed. Very nice to receive Barra Brith, Butter & Tea on arrival. P.S. Also recommend Vale of Rheidol Railway.”

“Came here for a short break with our two dogs before our first born arrives in August. We have not been disappointed one bit with Owl Farm, it’s like home from home and the doggies have loved having a large garden to run in. We have been really lucky with the lovely warm weather too, most days spent at Poppit beach which is only a short drive. Also a very nice welcome to milk, butter, tea bags, Welsh cake & two dog treats Thank you Ian & Hayley for providing us with such a lovely homely cottage for us to stay in”

“Came to Wales 6 weeks post op to recharge my batteries ready to return to work. It was beautiful in this cottage, so peaceful and lots of attention to detail. Nice location with beautiful seaside and interesting towns close by, as well as a big Tesco for anything you might need. Any little problems we had e.g. light bulb blew the fuse-box, just text Ian and he was round to sort almost immediately. It’s great that dogs were welcomed also. Thanks for my nice stay.”

“My name is Caspar. Our first stop at Cenarth Falls on our journey here ended up in a soaking for me, so I was happy with all the lovely fields at Owl Farm to run and dry off. I ran up the little stream and barked at a water vole looking at me from a small hole. All the dogs are really happy here and on Poppit Sands. I am only small but made lots of friends My family loved the peace of Buttercup Cottage with a sunny kitchen. I saw a man with two dogs…. I said ‘Are they Jack Russels? He said ‘No, their mine!’ My father’s name is Sleepy ….lives in Swansea, by the sands. PS The owls were a hoot, the alpacas cute, all dressed up in their fluffy suit. Nos da.”

“We have had a fantastic half term. The cottage is great, everything you need, a home from home. The farm is lovely and peaceful, our son really enjoyed meeting the animals, particularly the angoras and a very special sheep who surprised Ian and Hayley a few days before giving birth. Thomas got to see a baby lamb just 50 minutes after birth! Ian, Hayley and Izzy are great hosts. We visited a number of places but our favourite was the burial chamber, very mystical. We also enjoyed a walk above Newport. Thank you for the welcome pack. I am sure we will come back another time.”

Sarah, Salko and Thomas, Feb 2017

“Booked late for a Christmas minibreak and Ian was very pleasant & accommodating on the phone. We were a party of nine and three dogs but nothing seemed to be a problem. On arrival we were met by Hayley who again was pleasant and helpful. Cowslip & Buttercup Cottages were very clean, warm and cosy. The extras were a lovely touch too! Bara Brith, Milk, Christmas Card. Would not hesitate to come back or to recommend to friends and family. Well done guys, keep up the good work and many thanks for adding to our Christmas.”

Feedback - Dec 2016

“We’ve had a lovely winter solstice/pre-Christmas break at Buttercup Cottage. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Ian & Hayley are very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal, so close to the town yet in a peaceful country setting. We visited Poppit Sands (lovely beach) and tow megalithic sites (dolmans). St David’s (50 mins drive) was incredible. Thank you for the welcome products – tea, Welsh butter, milk and Bara Brith – delicious! We’d love to come back in the warmer weather and meet all the animals.”

Judith, Simon & Delphine, Dec 2016

“Thank you for a wonderful stay! From the minute we walked into the Welsh cakes, tea and flowers on the table we felt right at home. The location has been perfect. Our son has loved seeing all the animals so close and the view over the fields has been amazing. We have been out and about every day – we have been to the Welsh Wildlife Centre and Cilgerran Castle, up to Devil’s Bridge and the waterfalls and Aberystwyth (the drive through Lampeter and Tregaron is really beautiful), St Dogmaels & Poppit Sands (the weather was nice enough for us to have a paddle!) and to New Quay to take a dolphin spotting trip (we saw 4!) and Llangrannog. And after our busy days its been so lovely to come back to the comfort of the cottage to relax in the peace and quiet. We are already talking about when we will come back here – we hope its soon. Thank you for your hospitality.”

“Had a really nice time, peaceful & plenty to see around and about. I’m sure we will be back. Very comfortable.”

Chris, Colin Pam, & Millie Dog, Oct 2016

“We were looking for a relaxing holiday where we could ‘get away from it all’ and we certainly found this at Owl Farm. Buttercup Cottage exceeded our expectations and we have all had a very comfortable and happy holiday. We loved all the animals and enjoyed feeding the pigs and naughty old Billy the goat. We loved walking in the fields in the early evenings and again first thing in the mornings. We visited many interesting and beautiful places not far away. Hayley and Ian have been most welcoming and nothing has been too much trouble for them. They have been very informative with the care of the animals. We have all had a wonderful time which has gone all too quickly. Staying at Owl Farm was ‘a hoot!!’ Thank you. We would love to come again.”

Jill, Annette, Elaine & Ken, Oct 2016

“This is our first visit to Buttercup Cottage and we absolutely loved it! Everything seemed to be in our favour – the weather has been brilliant, sunny every day, unusually warm for the time of year. The cottage far exceeded our expectations, so cosy and comfortable. The location is amazing! Its been great to have so many fields to walk through with our dogs and the views are spectacular! Its been wonderful to see Ian and Hayley’s animals and we’ve also seen plenty of bats at dusk and heard tawny owls in the night! Poppit Sands has become our favourite beach for walking the dogs, but we’ve also visited the beaches at Aberporth, Mwnt (we climbed the hill!) and New Quay. We visited the market at St Dogmael’s on Tuesday and visited the abbey ruins. We have found the locals to be very friendly. Ian and Hayley have been great hosts, so welcoming and helpful. The welcome pack of Welsh tea, butter and cakes was a lovely touch. We have had a fantastic holiday in this peaceful, relaxing location. Some people crave hot tubs and champagne but give me your natural untouched fields to watch our 2 dogs run around. We are sad to leave but would love to return. Thank you Ian and Hayley for letting us have a glimpse of your dream lifestyle – we’ll go back to watching Escape to the Country!”

Samantha, Andrew and James & Beau & Bexie. October 2016

“We have had a lovely week at Buttercup Cottage even though the weather has not been brilliant, but we have managed to see quite a few places. The Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park was brilliant, especially the animals for the toddler to see. Owl Farm is a very peaceful location where you are not far away from beaches and other places of interest. Look forward to returning again.”

Frank, Elaine, Emma, Keith & baby Caereddin, Oct 2016

“We had a great time. There is so much to do around this area. Owl Farm is a good base to start from. We all had a relaxing holiday and would love to come back again. It was so nice to be near the sea but so nice to be in the countryside which is beautiful. It would be good to come back next year, to see how Ian & Hayley’s animal farm has grown!! Thank you both & best wishes.”

Glyn, Lynne, Lindy, Bob & Hardy, Sept 2016

“There was 4 of us in the cottage and we really enjoyed the location. You are only a short drive to some of the lovely beaches and yet you were in the countryside with the peace and quiet. The week went too quick as there was still so much to see and do in the surrounding area. The cottage is a great base.
The owners have some great idea's to enhance your stay and it was lovely to meet their animal family. All their animals have names and it was great to meet them all, you felt part of the of their new adventure. We look forward to returning.”

“Had a lovely restful week. Lovely to look over to the open fields – totally unspoilt. Lots of places to go and see only a short distance away. Despite having one rainy day it was lovely and sunny most of the time. Could hear the owls in the night – Owl Farm – very appropriate. We are definitely going to come back. It’s a lovely place to stay whether as a family – or on your own – if you value the fresh air, peace and quiet, and friendly people – this is the place to stay. Would definitely recommend to others”

Julie, Gary & Claire. September 2016

“We were looking for a peaceful location where we could relax and chill out and Buttercup Cottage was just that. It was comfortable and homely. The weather was changeable but we were able to get out and about. We’d recommend the ‘Dolphin Spotting’ boat trip from New Quay – certainly a trip to remember. Would definitely recommend it to others.”

“A wonderful week in a peaceful location, ideally located for all the beautiful beaches nearby. The cottage was very cosy and the beds comfortable. It was great being able to borrow a BBQ when the weather was nice (great way to spend a bank holiday evening Hope to return in the future. Thank you!”

Jane, Steve, Georgia & Max, August 2016

“We have thoroughly enjoyed our week at Buttercup Cottage. We were very lucky with the weather and had lovely Welsh sun nearly every day. Our favourite place has to be Aberporth beach, which has a section that dogs can visit, and a lovely café up on the hillside above the beach. The cottage is a great base for loads of different places and is very comfortable with everything you need. Ian and Hayley were always around (not that there were any problems) and Billy the goat is so friendly! Thanks again”

Karen, Richard, Abi, Holly & Buster

“Super holiday especially if you have woofs. The cottage was well suited for furry friends and I've stayed in many cottages where the decor has been totally unsuitable if you have woofs. The kitchen had all you need if you like to cook and the outside area was also spacious if you wanted to eat outside or if you had children. Really great location definitely will go back.
Lots of lovely fields (empty) to roam in by the cottage and loads of things to do and see in the area with and without woofs.
Hayley the owner was very welcoming and very down to earth -”

Feedback - Aug 2016

“Three dry days, 2 dull days and rain – a good record for Wales and the UK generally. Nonetheless the cottage was delightful and very comfortable and enhanced our stay. The dogs loved it too. All the “animals” furry and otherwise were well behaved. All were friendly and Ian (although absent) and Hayley were helpful and kind. The tea, butter and milk were very much appreciated in view of our late arrival - a long journey from Essex with ‘stops’ for the ‘poor’ dogs. So much appreciated were the fields where they could roam and run free. We wish Hayley a speedy recovery and hope the business thrives and the roaming goats are recovered safely. Good luck and health.”

“We’ve loved our week at Buttercup Cottage. It’s a lovely peaceful setting and only a short drive to lots of gorgeous beaches and places of interest. Our favourite places were Poppit Sands, Tresaith Beach and Llanerchaeron (N.T.) Ian and Hayley always seemed to be about if you needed anything. We’d definitely stay again!”
