Discover Llanelli

This area is great for holidaymakers wanting the best mix of urban and rural. Swansea is just to the east, and there is a good rail service linking all the towns along the south coast. Self catering is easy as there are many local delicacies to add to your list of ingredients. Try the indoor market for seafood and the speciality of the region – a very nutritious seaweed called laverbread.

The Millenium Coastal Path, a largely traffic-free path along the coast, is perfect for family cycling and is wheelchair accessible. From the path, you have glorious views of the bay and the Gower Peninsula. The Swiss Valley Cycle Route follows a disused railway line, climbing gently from the Millennium Coastal Park into the hills above Llanelli and ending at the peaceful Lleidi reservoirs.

The National Wetland Centre Wales is a Wildfowl and Wetland Trust reserve where birdwatchers can view wild birds from special hides and children can feed the tamer ducks and swans.

Sport plays a big role in Llanelli, and there is nothing bigger, or more important, than rugby! The town is home to the famous Scarlets and Stradey Park.  The renowned Machynys Golf and Country Club is open to non-members; you can enjoy the spa and brasserie in the superb club house as well as a round of golf on the Nicklaus-designed course.
