With plenty of great places to grab a tasty bite to eat, unique independent shops to explore, exciting attractions for all ages and the surrounding sandy beaches and coastal villages, Cardigan has something for everyone.
We’ve put together some of our favourite places to visit and things to do that we think you’ll love!
Looking for a delicious bite to eat?
Head to the riverside courtyard on the banks of the Teifi where you can enjoy stone-baked pizzas, breads and Welsh craft beer from Pizza Tipi. Don’t worry if you’re heading here on a cold evening, cosy up in the enclosed tipi and warm up around the fire- how romantic! And just look at that pizza!
If you have a sweet tooth or just love Instagrammable food, Crwst is for you! Here, you can enjoy indulgent, delicious treats and mouthwatering meals. Alongside the locally sourced Welsh produce, they also serve their famous doughnuts. How yummy do they look?

Bringing along the little ones?
We’re sure a visit to Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park will go down a treat. Say hello to their friendly animals – from guinea pigs and rabbits to llamas, donkeys, ponies and many more! Walk along the fenced clifftop walk with spectacular views of Cardigan Island and watch seals in the caves below. There are indoor and outdoor play areas and a cafe.
Looking to learn a thing or two?
There’s plenty to discover at Cardigan Castle. The medieval walls and Grade II listed building are wonderful to see, with tour guides who bring this amazing place to life. What’s even more exciting is you can also stay inside the castle. East Wing, Gardener’s Cottage, and The Coach-House sleep 2 to 8 guests and all offer a unique stay. The original features such as the curved tower wall, arrow slit and ancient stone flagstones make these cottages ones not to forget!
You could also take part in a family-friendly walking tour around Cardigan and listen to tales from the history of the town. A tour with Cardigan Walks covers a tremendous amount of local history in 90 minutes.
Something for the grown-ups!
Immerse yourself in botanics and create your own bottle of gin! Perhaps you fancy a gin tasting experience? In The Welsh Wind is an award-winning small distillery in Wales overlooking Cardigan Bay, with a shop, it’s own bar in the town, and of course a set of different experiences for you to try whilst you’re here.
Get up close to Cardigan Bay’s wildlife
Take a ride on a boat trip with A Bay To Remember. Setting off from Cardigan, you can see all the area has to offer. Look out for dolphins, seals, sea birds and other incredible sights as their enthusiastic and knowledgeable team answer any questions you may have.
And of course you can’t forget the beaches…
There are also many breathtaking beaches close by. Poppit Sands, Mwnt and Aberporth are within a 15-minute drive from Cardigan and all offer a fantastic day out.
If you’re after swimming, beach games and watersports, head to Poppit Sands.
For safe bathing, rock pools and seal-spotting head to Mwnt.
If you’re looking for a family beach with easily accessible cafes try Aberporth’s south beach, Dolwen.
For sailing, kayaks, canoes and fishing head up to Aberporth’s north beach, Dyffryn.
