Access statement for Banc-y-Capel

• The cottage has ample off-road, gated parking for 3 vehicles, or 2 cars and a boat.
• The parking area sits alongside the cottage, on a level, tiled drive.
• The cottage is accessed via a shallow step down and then one step up. All three bedrooms, the main bathroom, and the kitchen/dining room/sitting room and utility rooms are all on the ground floor. The playroom is on the first floor, accessed via a narrow spiral staircase.
• The fourth bedroom (accessed from the playroom), the detached studio (Ty Rhydd) and the garage are all reserved for the owners’ use, and will not be in use during your stay.
• The nearest train station is Fishguard, 8 miles away. Regular local buses are available from Fishguard to Newport (and on to Cardigan) during daylight hours. The ‘Poppet Rocket’ bus service is useful for exploring the fantastic beaches along this stretch of coastline in summer.
• Newport has a great range of local shops, including a bakery, butcher, fishmonger, delicatessen, as well as a fantastic range of cafes and options for eating out in the evening, all within a couple of minutes’ walk of Banc-y-Capel. Tesco deliveries can be arranged in advance, for delivery to Banc-y-Capel, Goat Street, Newport, SA42 0PT during your stay.
• The cottage is equipped with WiFi. The playroom has a simple desk & chair, if you are travelling with a workaholic!
• The cottage has a landline phone, for incoming and emergency calls only. Mobile phone reception in Newport can be patchy, unless you are on EE or Orange in which case it is generally good.
• Banc-y-Capel is equipped with a travel cot, high chair and a good selection of children’s toys, board games and books. The first floor playroom provides a great space for children to play on wet days (please be aware very young children may need supervision on and around the stairs), as well as for adults to relax and enjoy the beautiful view across town and down to the sea. The children’s playground is a 5 minute walk down the hill, as is the skate park & recreation field.
• The cottage has a television with the standard and Freeview channels, plus a DVD player. There is a small selection of DVDs for guest use.
• The kitchen and utility room are well-equipped with a microwave, hob, oven, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, washing machine, ironing board & iron and drying rack for clothes. The conservatory, accessed from the utility room, is a useful space to store beach equipment, dry wet clothing, etc.
• A stream runs under the decking outside the kitchen – the decking is well-fenced but you will probably want to supervise young children in this area.
