Ty Hen Cottage is a delightful home from home, for 2-3 people. It is converted from part of a stone barn fronting an old farmyard and is surrounded by meadows, fields and woodland in an area of permaculture, organic farming and environmentally conscious smallholdings. The cottage is situated on the upper slope of a steep-sided valley in the heart of the old Welsh Woollen industry, 2-3 miles from the lovely Teifi river. The fabulous unspoilt beaches and hidden coves of the Ceredigion coast are a 30-minute drive away, and the Preseli hills in Pembrokeshire, or Carmarthenshire’s Black Mountain to the south are also within easy reach.
The National Woollen Museum is located in our nearest village, the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens are a short drive away, and ruined castles abound. The Pembrokeshire theme parks are near enough for a fun day out for children. Activities in the area include riding, fishing, canoeing, sailing and golf, or simply exploring the countryside on foot or bicycle.
The cottage has a spacious first-floor bedroom with double bed and ensuite bathroom, and downstairs are a sitting-room with dining-table, woodburner and single divan bed/couch, kitchen and shower-room with toilet and washing-machine. It is centrally-heated and has a small private garden. Bed linen and towels are provided (please bring your own beach towels). Logs for the wood-burner are included in the price. Pets are welcome provided they do not chase chickens or sheep.
One family lives on the farmyard but we are otherwise very secluded being about a mile to the nearest pub or shop.
The owner is an experienced acupuncturist and there is the possibility of treatments on the farm or nearby.
Book online but don't pay now. You will need to pay the deposit to the owner. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking; the balance should be paid 6 weeks before the start of the holiday. Please pay the deposit within 7 days. Payment methods accepted: cheque.
