Trehyddion Barn is an 18th century converted stone and slate barn with many original features set in an idyllic peaceful rural location on a smallholding. Recently converted, the barn has views towards the Gower Peninsular and is 2 miles from the sandy beach at Llansteffan. Llansteffan is overlooked by a Norman castle and boasts an award winning restaurant ‘Hen Tafarn’, specialising in locally caught fish and game. There are 2 pubs, a beach café/ souvenir shop, local shop/café/post office, and fish 'n' chips are available seasonally. Trehyddion Barn is within easy walking distance of Llanybri village where the local pub serves food.

Local pursuits include stunning coastal and estuary walks, beach fishing, wildlife and bird spotting or just lazing on the sandy beach (at low tide swimming is restricted). Carmarthenshire is the ‘Garden of Wales’ and boasts attractions such as the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Aberglasney and Dinefwr House and Gardens (National Trust). Other local attractions include Dylan Thomas’s Laugharne, Gwili steam railway, the National Woollen Museum of Wales, the 7 mile long beach at Pendine Sands and Ffos Las, the newest jump race course in the country.

Trehyddion Barn sleeps 6 in 3 ground floor bedrooms: two ensuite king size doubles and a bunk bedroom with full size bunk beds, all with under-floor heating. The two doubles each have LCD Freeview TV, reading lights, dressing table, wardrobe, bedside tables and en-suite wet rooms with shower, WC, washbasin and heated towel rail. The bunk bed room has a small arrow slit and large window overlooking the patio and garden, LCD TV, bedside table and under stair storage space.

The barn has an ‘upside down’ arrangement with living space on the first floor. The first floor vaulted ceiling with exposed A-frames, stone walls, reclaimed floorboards and gallery staircase, retain the original character of the barn. The living area consists of a spacious open plan living/dining room with comfy sofas and views to the coast, LCD TV with Freeview and DVD and large cast iron radiators to keep it cosy. The kitchen is fitted with dishwasher, fridge, electric cooker, microwave and oak breakfast bar with 2 stools. The first floor bathroom has a free standing bath, WC and hand-wash basin. Please be aware that some of the beams are quite low in the upstairs rooms.

A double sink and drainer, washing machine, tumble dryer, small freezer and oil central heating boiler are located in a utility with separate access (lockable) with room for drying and storage. There is a slate paved patio seating area outside with BBQ, garden furniture and landscaped walled garden, with plenty of parking space at the front of the building.

Bed linen, tea towels and bath towels are provided. Please provide your own beach towels. We have a collection of buckets, spades and beach mats for loan. Two well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement (£10 each), but please keep them off the soft furnishings and on the lead when outside as we have free range ducks!

We are offering visitors the opportunity to keep chickens (or ducks) for the week, while in the barn. We provide the birds and fox proof cage, you get to feed (provided also) and look after them, collect (and eat) any eggs produced and we can give advice on husbandry, how to handle them, and other tips for healthy happy birds.

Within an hour’s drive are Pembrokeshire and its attractions to the west and Swansea and the Gower Peninsular to the east so there is plenty to see and do whatever the weather. We extend a warm Welsh welcome to you for a visit to our smallholding. We welcome short break enquiries; please give us a call or email us.
