Teifyrie (PRON; Tye-vee-ree) is a stone, characterful house with stunning views that’s close to sandy beaches and the Pembrokeshire coastal path.
It overlooks the Teifi Valley from a point between Poppit Sands and the delightful village of St. Dogmaels with its pubs, art gallery, shop, post office and historic ruined abbey. The town of Cardigan with its shops, supermarkets, theatre/cinema and restaurants is a 10-minute drive away.
Teifyrie is the former coach house and mill of Ysguborwen (“The White Barn”) a 60-acre estate which has been the subject of a rolling programme of tree planting in the last 20 years; some 40 acres is now amenity woodland. A patchwork of interesting wildlife habitats has already emerged and the farm has its permanent residents of buzzards, barn owls, jays and ravens as well as more common birds including – in season - several exuberant families of swallows. Badgers have colonised all the woodland and there are around 20 badger setts on the land as well as fox dens with both hares and rabbits in evidence
In summer the remaining 20 acres of pasture land is still grazed by sheep and cattle.
Teifyrie has two bedrooms on the ground floor – one a double and the other with two substantial bunk beds – along with the bathroom, which has a bath with electric shower over. On the first floor (and making the most of the views) is the open-plan living and dining room with kitchen area. In this room there is an electric cooker, fridge, microwave and wood burning stove. There is now a TV with freeview and DVD player as well as a micro hi-fi system.
Above this charming room there is an open crog-loft which provides an additional sleeping space, ideally for children. There is a freezer and a washing machine in an adjacent building. All linen and bathroom towels are provided, please bring your own beach towels. The first 3 baskets of firewood are provided.
Outside there are several gardens and play areas as well as a patio area for barbecueing etc. A charcoal-fuelled barbecue is provided. Visitors are also welcome to walk and picnic in the estate's extensive grounds.
Teifyrie is fed by water from a local spring which is under pressure and has been passed through the latest filtration and UV processes so it is not necessary to bring bottled water as spring water is on tap. One well-behaved pet allowed at an additional charge of £15.
Please note that this property has a FRIDAY CHANGEOVER.
