St John’s House lies in the very heart of Newport, in a quiet cul-de-sac leading to a footpath taking you to the town’s Norman castle. Despite its peaceful location the shops, restaurants and pubs that always help make a stay in Newport both easy and relaxing are just around the corner. There is a charming view of the church from the front of the cottage and on a Sunday morning the peal of the church bells can be a real treat. St John’s House dates back some two hundred years, with the original building thought to have been the town’s cobbler’s shop, and has recently been fully renovated to a high standard.

As well as offering easy access to the local footpath to the Castle and, for the more ambitious walker, on towards Carn Ingli, there are many walks and cycle rides right on the doorstep. This makes St John’s an ideal base from which to discover the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and National Park. Newport’s public tennis courts are just a few minutes’ walk away and the spectacular Newport Links golf course is just a short drive from the cottage. Newport Bay and the Nevern Estuary offer many opportunities for sailing and other water sports, fishing or just watching the sun go down over Cardigan Bay from one of the beaches.

Accommodation
St Johns’s sleeps up to 6 or 7 in 4 bedrooms: two double bedrooms (one with en-suite facilities), one single bedroom and one bedroom with a ‘bunk’ bed sleeping either one adult or two children. All of the bedrooms are on the first floor as is the main family bathroom.

On the ground floor there is a small inner porch with storage for boots, small beach toys and tennis rackets etc. The porch leads, via a small hallway, to the sitting room that has been designed to be comfortable and relaxing and is equipped with TV, DVD player and a stereo music system. The focus of the sitting room is the cast iron gas stove beneath an oak beam that helps add to the cosy feel of the room on frosty winter days or after the sun has gone down in summertime. Also leading from the hallway is an additional utility room equipped with WC and wash basin as well as further storage for coats and some larger items.

The kitchen and dining area leads from the hallway and is a great area to eat, talk and generally unwind. The oak dining table can seat up to eight people. The kitchen is fully equipped to include fridge/freezer, electric oven with gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and washer dryer. The rear courtyard, with an additional dining table for up to eight people, is reached via a stable door at the rear of the kitchen.

Outside
There is a small ‘short term, pull-in’ area at the front of the cottage that allows for easy loading and unloading of luggage / shopping. Longer term parking is typically available in the adjacent streets within a few yards of the cottage.
