Smugglers Cove (Chapel House and Quarry Cottage) at Frongoch Boatyard is a stunning renovation in an area of Special Scientific Interest in the Snowdonia National Park, just off the foreshore/beach of the Dyfi [Dovey] estuary, approximately 3 miles up the estuary from Aberdyfi and 5 miles from Machynlleth. Accommodating 14 + 2 [or + 4 by arrangement], it is laid out as a single holiday let for family/ friends reunions, group get-togethers and holidays.
Smugglers Cove Boatyard has the same owners as the Smugglers Cove Holiday Property and is also being renovated as a working boatyard with licensed moorings on the estuary, exclusive access to the estuary foreshore beach, its own slipway and hard standing, and launch facilities for canoes, yachts and boats. Smugglers Cove is located in its own self contained, discreet area of the site, completely hidden from the working area of the boatyard. Guests have their own exclusive parking on the Boatyard right alongside the short tunnel to the Smugglers Cove buildings.
The property has been entirely renovated in 2006, having been designed by "Eco Architects" Simmonds Mills with assistance from The Wales Tourist Board, and is constructed of stone, slate, larch, oak and glass with an attractive limewash finish, and an area of turf roof. As well as having very high insulation, to AECB silver standard, solar powered hot water and full gas fired central heating, each of the two buildings, Chapel House and Quarry Cottage, has a wood burning stove.
Chapel House sleeps 10 and is the spacious main building with 3 double bedrooms [one with a four poster bed], I twin bedroom, and 1 double bunk bedroom, three of which are on the ground floor. The Dining area can accommodate 16 around a single table and the lounge area has soft seating for the same number. The kitchen has a large 5 ring gas hotplate and a gas oven. Outside there is a large recreation area and patio with outdoor seats and tables and barbeque.
Quarry Cottage, a separate but adjacent, sleeps 4 and is a two storey cottage, with a double and a twin bedroom, one on the ground floor with direct exterior access as well as interior access. It has its own smaller kitchen, lounge and dining area, seating 4 around the table and with soft seating for 4. There is a gas hob and oven. There is a large shower room/toilet on the ground floor. At the rear of the house there is a secluded Mediterranean style courtyard, seating and barbeque areas.
Both properties are equipped with Fridge [American style in Chapel] TV [ with Free to Air] [26" flat screen in Chapel] Video player/ DVD player/CD player/ radio, ironing board and Iron, and clothes drying horse There are hairdryers in both buildings There is a dishwasher in the Chapel kitchen There is an incoming call telephone in the Chapel. There is usually mobile phone reception on O2 and Orange Networks There is a central chest freezer [in addition to the fridge freezers in the kitchens] and a washing machine and dryer in the facilities building in front of Chapel House.
All bed linen is provided with beds made up on arrival. Towels are not provided. Where applicable we can offer 3 night weekend breaks or 4 night mid-week breaks.
