Relax and unwind in a peaceful location away from the stresses and strains of modern living. Set in one of the most beautiful valleys in Wales, Penrhiwgaer is off the beaten track in a stunning location where Red Kites circle above and the balcony decking has fantastic views with a glimpse of the sea. Penrhiwgaer is the perfect 'get away from it all' cottage, ideal for family reunions, walkers, nature lovers, birdwatchers, and cyclists.
Penrhiwgaer is situated above the Rheidol Valley in an area renowned for its diverse range of outdoor activities and offers a good base for visiting attractions throughout West Wales. Ideally suited for those who like the outdoors life or those who just want to relax Penrhiwgaer has easy access to the outstanding sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay where there are opportunities for sailing, sea fishing, boat trips, and viewing dolphins. The spectacular Cambrian Mountains are nearby which is good news for walkers and cyclists and for those who just want to explore. There are several pretty rural walks adjacent to the property or just relax in the garden, looking out for birds and watching the Red Kites and Buzzards soar above.
There are many tourist attractions within reach including the Red Kite Feeding Station at Bwlch Nant yr Arian, Llywernog Silver-Lead Mine, horse riding, golf course and fishing and the Vale of Rheidol narrow gauge railway. Occasionally, steam trains can be seen on the other side of the valley. Aberystwyth is well worth a visit for its shopping, museums, galleries, The National Library and many other facilities.
The accommodation
Penrhiwgaer sleeps 8 in four bedrooms on the first floor, 2 bedrooms with double beds and 2 with twin beds, all with built in wardrobes. The main bathroom has WC, bidet, wash basin and corner whirlpool bath with power shower over.
On the ground floor there is an entrance hall and separate shower room with connecting door to the cloak room with toilet and wash basin. The farmhouse kitchen is well equipped with electric hob and eye-level oven, microwave, fridge, separate freezer and a table with chairs to seat 8 comfortably. The utility/boot room has a sink, washer, dryer, drying rack and access to the outside where there is an outside tap which can be used to wash bikes and muddy boots.
The spacious lounge has a brick feature fireplace with wood burning stove, exposed beams, three cosy sofas and TV/DVD with Freeview. The lounge also has table and chairs to seat 8. The study has a sofa and could be used as a downstairs bedroom on request.
The large conservatory/games room has ample window seating, pool table, dart board and provides a quiet reading area with a well stocked bookcase. French doors lead outside to a sheltered patio with table and chairs available.
Outside
The property is approached via hard-standing driveway with ample parking spaces for up to 4 cars and a turning area. The double garage has a roof-top terrace with power, lighting and gas barbeque providing an attractive seating area and a glorious vantage point (care must be taken when using the steps). A small footbridge provides access to a sloping wild life garden. A second fenced and terraced garden benefits from a south facing aspect, offering the first and last sunlight of the day with a lawned area surrounded by indigenous flora and shrubs, displaying a variety of eye catching colour. There are two large ponds with cascade inflows which attract a host of native wildlife (take care with children please).
