Whether you want a short break away from it all or a fun-packed holiday, the Cothi Valley is the ideal location.
The Old School Barn is a traditional Welsh stone barn which has been sympathetically restored, having beamed ceilings, cosy log burning stove and wood floors. It is all on one level and sleeps 2/4 people. Wheel chair access is possible throughout the cottage.
The Barn is situated in a picturesque spot by the river in Brechfa, a pretty village on the edge of the Brechfa Forest. The village has an award winning community shop and Post Office, small church, play area and restaurant with the Black Lion pub 2 miles away. If peace is your ideal, there are beautiful walks through the forest, fishing, bird watching or just relaxing in the garden overlooking the mountains with sheep grazing and the sound of the river and birds.
For more active pursuits Brechfa has 26km of specially built cycle tracks. The fabulous 9 mile long sandy beach of Pendine, 30 minutes drive away, offers kayaking, horse riding and quad biking. Visit the Brecon Beacons, castles, theme parks and coastal parks or even take a nostalgic trip through the valley on a Steam Engine! Carmarthen, 10 miles away, is an old Market Town with an open air market every Wednesday and Saturday. There you will find every amenity: shops, pubs, restaurants, cinema and leisure centre, all with easy parking.
The Old School Barn has a very large sitting area with comfortable sofas, cosy log burner, TV/DVD, radio and CD player. The open plan kitchen and dining area has been hand crafted and has a traditional Welsh dresser, dining table and chairs, rocking chair, gas oven and hob, fridge, freezer and microwave. It is fully equipped for up to four people and includes iron and ironing board and hair drier. There is one double bedroom with good storage and full length mirror. A comfortable sofa in the lounge provides sleeping space for another two people. The large wet room has an electric shower, hand basin, toilet and heated towel rail
The main room leads on to a very large patio with table, chairs, parasol and BBQ. Beyond this is the garden overlooking the river, mountain and fields. There is a lockable outhouse for the storage of bikes, golf clubs, wellies etc and adequate parking space. All bed linen, towels, heating and electricity and first basket of logs are provided. Well behaved pets are welcome for a fee of £10 per week and no smoking is permitted in the Barn. A babysitting and dog sitting is available, please speak to the owners about this after you have made your booking.
