Ol y Don is secluded cottage in the popular Pembrokeshire village of Newport, hidden away in its own 2 acres set beside the Nevern estuary, offering walks from the door along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Ol y Don is a traditional stone cottage that has been sympathetically modernised, with period features, wood flooring, roll-top bath and large airy rooms, where you can enjoy a peaceful country break.

Set in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Ol y Don is ideally located for walkers. It is a short walk in one direction to The Parrog, with its café and boat club, where you can paddle across to the golden expanse of Newport Sands, and the shops in the other. As well as the spectacular coastline, the open slopes of the Preseli Hills are within easy reach. Newport also provides great food, including The Royal Oak curry house, the dog-friendly Castle Inn, or gastropub The Golden Lion.

Aside from the beach, favourite activities in the area include watersports and sailing, fishing, birdwatching, horse riding and trekking over the hills, golf and tennis. Pembrokeshire also has numerous family attractions to offer, where you can explore historic sites such as Newport Castle or Cerrig y Gof Bronze Age burial tomb, or visit Dyfed Shire Horse Farm and Sea Mor Aquarium.

The property is situated at the end of a narrow lane approximately 50 metres from a turning circle
The property has a gated level driveway which will accommodate up to 3 cars.
The cottage is situated at the bottom of a hill and therefore the 400m walk to the village is uphill
A bus service runs from the centre of the village with the bus stop situated approximately 500 yards from the cottage
The main line railway station is situated about 8 miles from the cottage whilst Carmarthen station is about 30 miles away and Swansea 50 miles.

Car parking and arrival

Access to the front door is gained via a rough flagstone path which is raised 120mm from the driveway
The path is level and leads to the doorway which has a standard frame and sill which forms a step of 200mm high
Between the driveway and the door is a slate patio which incorporates a few steps the dimensions of which are from driveway up 40mm step then across 410mm then down a step then across 310mm then down 225mm to access the patio then up 150mm step to decking then up 80mm step leading up to back door
There are external lights which have motion sensors to the front and rear of the cottage.
There are also fixed lights to the front and rear of the building

Inside

A phone accepting incoming calls is situated in the kitchen with an extension in the main bedroom.
A fire extinguisher is situated in the hall and is suitable to extinguish fires where an electrical appliance is at fault.
Once inside the house, the ground floor has level floors throughout the kitchen, hall and shower room however, there is a 200mm step into the lounge.
The staircase is circular and narrow and has slate treads which rise at 200mm intervals. The staircase has a rope banister on the right hand side as you ascend
On the first floor, the bathroom, landing and main bedroom are on the same level however; there is a 200mm step into the bedrooms 2 and 3, which lead off each other
All floors and internal doors in the property are oak and contrast with white walls
The staircase is white with slate steps
Dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms or on soft furnishings

Outside

The lawned garden is on 2 tiers and can be accessed via the driveway or from the patio via 3 steps.
We love having your dogs stay but please note dog mess to be removed from the outside area and put in poo bags within the non recyclable waste bin liner.
