Number Ten William Street is a late Georgian townhouse situated just a stone’s throw from the centre of the coastal town of Cardigan. This four storey terraced house is in a quiet one-way street within a Conservation Area and has recently been lovingly restored throughout. It retains its many original character features whilst offering a high and contemporary standard of accommodation.
Within easy reach by car of the Cardigan Bay coastline and all the many things that has to offer, the house will appeal to those who like to stay within a small town with easy access on foot to a whole variety of local shops and supermarkets, library, market, cinema, restaurants, take-aways as well as pubs and nightlife.
Situated on the River Teifi Estuary with its kayaking, fishing and nature reserve, Cardigan is a short distance away from the ancient abbey ruins at St. Dogmaels, the beach at Poppit Sands and the protected Heritage Coastline which is a must for walkers and birdwatchers alike. There is easy access to both the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion Coastal paths.
There are many attractions nearby including Cardigan Island Farm Park, the re-constructed pre-historic hill fort of Castell Henllys, an eighteen hole golf course and a riding centre.
Accommodation
Number Ten William Street sleeps 6 in three double bedrooms: two first floor rooms with twin beds and one on the second floor with a king-size bed. On the first floor, there is a family bathroom with WC, basin and a power shower over the L-shaped bath. The twin bedrooms and the bathroom retain their original Victorian fireplaces although these are not used at present.
On the second floor, the loft bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with WC, basin and shower cubicle with power shower. This light and airy bedroom is reached via the original narrow staircase whose limited headroom makes access more difficult for guests with restricted mobility. The room itself has a high, vaulted ceiling with exposed beams. Two skylights give views over the back garden.
In the ground floor living room there are two sofas, a TV with built-in DVD player, a period fireplace as well as a coffee table. The separate dining room has a table which seats six.
The newly-fitted kitchen is equipped with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. The original Edwardian range is still in place although not currently used.
Within a few steps of the back of the house is a heated stone outbuilding which is fitted out with both sink and washing machine. It provides ample room for drying as well as indoor storage space for holiday paraphernalia. Back in the house and accessed via a winding stone staircase there are two further rooms in the cellar which also offer storage space.
Outside
There is an enclosed and level rear garden which is mostly down to lawn. For al fresco dining there is a table and chairs. A gas barbecue is available in the spring and summer months.
Parking – although there is no dedicated parking space with the house, William Street offers parking which is time-limited during the day. This means parking spaces become available fairly quickly for unloading. There is a large, council run car park within a hundred meters of the house – weekly parking passes cost under £7 currently.
