Maes y Bryn near Brynberian is a secluded country cottage set in 2.5 acres of gardens with stunning views over open fields to the beautiful and magical landscape of the Preseli hills in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

This is the perfect relaxing location for those seeking a well-deserved break in the heart of picturesque countryside. The cottage is an ideal base for fishing, cycling, walking, horse riding and exploring the stunning moorland, valleys, cliffs and beaches of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Alternatively you could simply relax in the garden enjoying the sound of the river and the birds.

Maes y Bryn is thought to be built on the site of a Ty Unnos: a Welsh tradition dating back centuries. An 18th Century law stated that local workers could claim an area of common land if they could build their house on it in just one night and have smoke rising from the roof by morning. The area of land to be claimed was decided by how far an axe could be thrown from the house (the grounds are now a lot more than that!). It is thought that the land at Maes y Bryn was originally claimed in this way from the common land forming the Preseli hills. Even today, the owners pay the princely sum of 20p per year to the ancient Baronry for the cottage grounds!

Accommodation
Maes y Bryn sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms: one double, one twin and one with bunk beds. The cottage has been recently renovated and fitted out to a very high standard. It provides accommodation on one floor with split levels.

The entrance hall leads into a large lounge with Freeview TV, DVD and CD player. A small set of steps then lead to the kitchen/dining room with stunning views over the garden and fields. The kitchen is well equipped with an Aga oven, electric hob fridge/freezer, washing machine and microwave.

Another small set of steps take you to the bathroom with bath and shower and a glazed sunroom where you can sit and enjoy the views.

Outside
The gardens are a mixture of landscaped and natural areas, filled with an abundance of trees, shrubs and plants offering a peaceful sanctuary to a wide variety of wildlife including badgers, otters, Red Kite and Buzzards. The grounds slope down to a river flowing directly from the adjoining moorland, offering peace and seclusion as well as an explorer’s paradise.
