For the ultimate romantic bolthole it doesn’t get much better than this – your very own gypsy caravan and eco-cabin at the top of a valley where you can see just a chapel in the far distance.

You’d be forgiven for wanting to do absolutely nothing whilst you’re here except let nature distract you, this is a real escape from the tedium of day to day life. But if you do, you don’t have to get in your car. The Welsh National Woollen Museum - a real gem of a place – is only in the local village. Three pubs are within walking distance and there are endless good walking routes that follow old drovers roads and woodland paths. Hire a bike on-site from West Wales Trails to explore the area or go mountain biking further afield at one of the nearby trail centres.

Accommodation
The unique 1890s caravan has been lovingly restored to former Romany heritage, featuring all the charms of old gypsy life with a few modern comforts. The caravan is where you sleep and can chill-out and relax on the king-size double bed with plush bedding and Welsh woollen blanket. Glass fronted cabinets display china collectables, lacework and doilies decorate furniture, fancy curtains adorn the little windows and the brass mantelpiece heralds the range stove. You won’t get cold here, with the stove keeping you warm and toasty, as well as cooking your supper.

Just alongside the caravan is the eco-cabin, featuring a cute kitchen and dining area, sofa for two and bathroom with an extra large shower cubicle. This is a truly green holiday: the cabin is completely off-grid with solar water heating, PV panels (for electricity) and a Swedish compost loo – just like any other. Bring your laptop and watch films or pick a book from the reading shelf.

Outside
The location is what makes this holiday really special, a 300 metre private track leads you to a grassy platform carved out of the hillside where you can absorb and observe from way up high. Watch the sunset whilst having a BBQ, cooking a stew over the campfire or chilling out in the hammock on the veranda. Note the hillside is steep and small children may require continual supervision.

Wild flowers adorn the area which is surrounded by young and mature woodland, part of a 40 acre holding with 3 acres of organic horticulture. Vegetables, fruit, honey and preserves are available to buy and any catering requirement is welcomed.
