Ddol Lwyd is a traditional stone farmhouse and original attached barn delightfully secluded in its own 5 acres deep in the heart of the beautiful Aeron Valley, yet only a five minute drive from Aberaeron harbour. The house and barn together form one large, integrated period stone property. Antique furniture and paintings add to the period charm. There is an enclosed garden and a 3 acre field to explore. From there you can see the National Trust mansion of Llanerchaeron and its estate. There are walks in the woodland nearby where red kites breed, and there's a cycle track into Aberaeron. The Ceredigion Heritage coastline is only two miles away, offering fabulous walks, bird watching, marine life and boat trips. The county's most picturesque beaches are only 15 to 30 minutes away. Aberaeron boasts several pubs and eateries, with the Harbourmaster restaurant being noted throughout Wales (early booking essential). On the hill above the house is the Celaeron Equestrian Centre that caters for beginners as well as experienced riders.
Ddol Lwyd sleeps 8 plus a cot in 4 bedrooms, two upstairs and two downstairs. Upstairs in the house is a pretty double (kingsize) bedroom with its own staircase, landing and large bathroom. This landing area is ideal for the travel cot. Downstairs has a twin bedroom and the adult sitting room with TV and DVD/video. The sitting room opens directly into the barn's large, traditional farmhouse kitchen with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, cordless kettle and dining area. Off this is a utility room with Belfast sink, washing machine, tumble drier and hanging clothes airer.
A step down from the kitchen is the children's TV/DVD/video area with comfy sofas which leads into the lower hall. Off this is a second bathroom with bath and shower, and a large, beamed double (kingsize) bedroom with stunning views across the valley. The staircase from the lower hall leads up to a fourth bedroom (king size bed plus single bed), also beamed and with the same views across the valley. ln a raised section in the corner of the room is a futon, which can be used by anyone bringing their own sleeping bag. A travel cot and baby's booster chair are provided. The upstairs bedrooms are not connected but the layout of the house makes it ideal for accommodating smaller parties out of season.
The house has a lawned garden with flower beds. A rose covered pergola, with table and chairs and a built-in barbecue, looks onto stunning views across the valley. There is a large drive with parking for several cars. Bed linen and towels are provided, but not beach towels. Milk and tea will be ready for your arrival. Oil central heating and all electricity included. Arrangements can be made for coal and logs during the winter months. Non-smokers only. Up to 2 well behaved pets welcome, but no sheep worriers.
