Set in a glorious, secluded location in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains, Cefn Coch Farm Cottage (sleeps 4) is one of two semi-detached holiday cottages which are an ideal base for exploring this beautiful part of West Wales. Converted from an unused stone barn called Llechwedd Einion, the cottages now offer wonderful modern, luxury accommodation set in a spectacular hillside location about a mile above the hamlet of Glaspwll near Machynlleth, and above the forgotten Llyfnant Valley. They are off the beaten track - there is no passing traffic (except the odd tractor and horses on the bridlepath) as the cottages are on a farm track which leads nowhere. When booked together, the Cottage and the Barn can sleep up to 10 people, great for reunions or family get-togethers.
The market town of Machynlleth (the Ancient Capital of Wales) is a short drive away, with the beaches at Aberdovey, Borth and Ynyslas also within easy reach. Nearby is the RSPB reserve at Ynys Hir, the Centre for Alternative Technology, steam railways (Corris, Tallylyn, Rheidol Valley), nature reserves, King Arthur's Labyrinth, mountain biking trails and much more. This is a haven for bird watchers with an amazing variety of species to be seen from the doorstep. Walkers will be spoilt for choice with Glyndwr’s Way a few miles away, the Precipice Walk near Dolgellau plus many more. The Snowdonia National Park is within a short drive.
Cefn Coch Farm Cottage offers two-storey accommodation. Upstairs there are 2 wonderful King-size bedrooms (one room can be made up as a twin, please advise the owner which option you require after booking) and a lovely modern bathroom with a full-size bath, shower over the bath with glass shower screen, WC and basin. It is perfectly suited for a romantic break, family holiday or for two couples holidaying together.
Downstairs is the fully-fitted modern kitchen/dining room with integrated appliances (dishwasher, washer/dryer, electric hob and oven, fridge) microwave, and dining area with double French Doors opening onto the garden. There is a spacious hall with plenty of coat hooks, under-stairs cupboard housing freezer, boiler cupboard, stairs to first floor, and door to the sitting room. This has two sets of French windows (front and back), 2 comfy sofas, wood-burning stove, FreeSat TV, DVD player (bring your own DVDs or rent them locally). Soft lighting with table lamps, ceiling halogen and wall lights make this a fabulous room both at day and at night.
Outside there are sitting areas with garden furniture, BBQ and outside lights. A perfect place for al fresco dining. Cefn Coch Farm Cottage has ample parking for 2 - 3 cars.
We regret that we cannot accept pets, and ask people to smoke only outside the property. Access is via a farm track which is steep and bumpy in places so take care if driving a low-slung car! Bed linen, bath mats and tea towels are provided but please bring your own towels. A basket of logs is provided for the wood burner and central heating is included in colder months. £10 worth of electricity is included, thereafter it is charged at cost by meter reading. A welcome tray is also provided with tea, coffee, sugar, fresh milk, cake or biscuits.
Weekly rentals are from Friday after 4.00 pm to Friday before 10.00 am. Short break arrivals are by arrangement. A breakages deposit of £50.00 is payable on arrival and will be refunded after departure (less any breakages or electricity used above £10 per week).
Please note: children under the age of 8 must be supervised at all times due to the numerous streams near the property and the wood burner
