Area C - Mid Pembrokeshire

St Davids, named after the patron saint of Wales, is the smallest city in Britain with fewer than 2000 inhabitants. St David's Cathedral and The Bishop's Palace are among the most beautiful medieval monuments in Wales. The section of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park from Strumble Head to St Bride's Bay offers a dramatic coastline with views of offshore islands of extraordinary beauty. The Coastal Path makes it all available and the free coastal bus service means you can walk one way and ride the other. There are many beautiful sandy beaches in small coves as well as the broad surfing beaches of Whitesands and Newgale.

This part of Pembrokeshire is an excellent environment for adventurous coastal sports. Its southwest facing beaches provide some of the best surfing in the country, and there are opportunities for sailing and wind-surfing, kayaking, kite-surfing, and scuba diving, as well as rock climbing and coasteering, organised for all levels of skill and energy.

Offshore you can take boat trips to see the seabird and seal colonies on islands such as Ramsey, Skomer, and Skokholm, or go further out to fish, to see the amazing gannet colony on Grassholm, and to spot dolphins and whales. Seals with their young can be seen from the Coastal Path in the autumn.

Inland the quiet country lanes behind the coast are perfect for leisurely cycling. The Llys y Fran reservoir offers boating, fishing, and safe cycling for all ages.
