Amesbury is a traditional four bedroomed village property which has recently been renovated. It is situated in the heart of Newport, on a side street opposite the old school. The village shops are a stone’s throw away and the Nevern estuary and Pembrokeshire Coastal Path are a five minute stroll down the road.
Newport nestles besides Carningli mountain and is an ideal location for walkers exploring the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and National Park. Water sports and activities are popular within the confines of the large tidal estuary and a sheltered bay. There is a thriving sailing community based around the Parrog and Newport Boat Club. Birdlife is in abundance and fishing for mackerel, pollock and sea bass is popular both from the rocks and by boat, whilst the experts will go up river in search of trout, salmon and sea trout (sewin).
Whilst big surf in Newport bay is not an everyday feature, Whitesands, just outside St David's is well known for its regular large breakers. There is a choice of riding stables within easy reach of Newport, offering tuition and trekking. Trekking across the mountains is available for all ages whilst pub and beach rides can also be arranged.
Newport boasts a picturesque eighteen hole golf course and well maintained public tennis courts. Within an hours’ drive there are other golf courses in Cardigan, Haverforwest, St David’s and Tenby, whilst the famous Royal Porthcawl Golf Club is only an hour and half’s drive away.
The accommodation comprises a traditional pine fitted kitchen with a quarry stone floor. A small dining room leads off the kitchen and houses a Welsh dresser and pot belly stove. Amesbury has two sitting rooms with two flat screen digital TVs – ideal for families where the parents and children have different viewing tastes! Both living rooms are comfortably furnished with modern sofas and log burning stoves which supplement the gas central heating system if required.
Amesbury sleeps six in four bedrooms. On the first floor there is a master double bedroom, a twin room and two single rooms. One of the single rooms also has a “pull out” bed which can be used to increase the capacity to seven if required. The bathroom is of a traditional Victorian style and benefits from a separate shower cubicle and roll top bath.
Amesbury has a secluded pretty garden with outdoor eating facilities – ideal for BBQs and sunny lunches.
The property is a non smoking property and is equipped to a high standard offering two flat screen digital TVs, iPod base station, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave oven.
Bed linen is provided but please bring your own towels. Picnic crockery etc is not provided. A cot and high chair are available on request. Fuel for the central heating is included but not fuel for the log burning stoves – this can be purchased locally. Well behaved dogs are welcome (subject to conditions) at an additional cost of £10 each per week.
