If you love wildlife you’ll love Alma House: otters are commonplace on the river as are the kingfishers, dippers herons, and little egrets. Rabbits and foxes visit the garden as do the badgers that inhabit a sett in the adjoining fields. The bird life is particularly good, red kites, buzzards, hawks and ravens are around on a daily basis while the bird table is visited by a wide variety of birds.
Footpaths and bridle paths starting a step away from the cottage lead you along gin clear streams through ancient woodlands to rolling hills offering panoramic views over this undiscovered corner of rural West Wales. Fishing, for two rods, is offered free of charge.
Traditionally built from local stone, the semi-detached cottage has been extended and thoroughly modernised. Abercych is a pleasant half hour drive from the Blue Flag beach of Poppit Sands and about the same distance from Mwnt, a National Trust beach. There are two pubs in Abercych, both less than a mile from the house, one has its own microbrewery, an excellent restaurant and safe children’s play area.
