Adventurers’ Abode (graded 4 star) is one of three luxury cottages at Rhiw Ddu Barns in the famous Brecon Beacons National Park, on the Black Mountain. Rhiw Ddu (pronounced similarly to rhoo thee) means black hill in Welsh and if you are looking for something rather special in self catering accommodation in one of the most beautiful parts of the United Kingdom, look no further. These newly renovated barns have been finished to the highest standard and provide the best of holiday cottage accommodation.

Adventurers’ Abode sleeps two (plus a cot) in a double bedroom on the first floor. The bedroom has polished oak floorboards and a roll-top bath for that extra touch of luxury. The main room on the ground floor is open-plan with a marble stone floor with under-floor heating. The kitchen area has an oven, hob, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and washing machine. The lounge area has a leather sofa, scattered rugs and flat screen digital TV with DVD player. There is a separate bath/shower room with a hip bath with shower over together with a wash basin and toilet.

All fuel, bed linen and towels (except beach towels) are included. A hairdryer is provided. Outside there is ample parking. Pets cannot be accommodated in the cottage and smoking is not permitted. A refundable deposit of £100 is required per booking and will be returned in full subject to the house being left clean and there being no damage to the property or its contents. This must be paid in full before your arrival.

Rhiw Ddu Cottages are situated in an elevated position in the village of Gwynfe, looking onto the Black Mountain (not to be confused with the Black Mountains). Within the Brecon Beacons National Park it enjoys unspoiled views of lush green valleys, Welsh hills and panoramic landscapes. There are good shops and excellent pubs within short driving distances and the market towns of Llandovery and Llandeilo nearby.

There are many tourist attractions within reach including the Red Kite Feeding Station in the village of Llanddeusant itself, Carreg Cennen Castle a few miles away and the popular and spectacular Dan Yr Ogof Show Caves over the mountain. If you fancy a walk why not take the track up to Llyn-y-Fan Fach from where 'The Lady of the Lake' folk tale is derived as well as the legend of the Physicians of Myddfai. You can see the easily recognised sharp escarpment of the Carmarthen Fans above the lake.

At Rhiw Ddu Barns you will find all you need for a pleasant comfortable stay including pleasant surroundings, peace and quiet, stunning views, wildlife, flora and fauna and the friendliest of welcomes.

The other cottages in this group are Ramblers' Retreat and Beacons' Barn. Interested in booking more than one cottage? See the Group Availability Table.
